I'm not into poker but this Bravo series has started to suck me in against my will. Mostly because of what the celebrities reveal about themselves when they're relaxed and around other celebs.
A few nights ago, James Woods was on and if the stuff in his thread hadn't killed my admiration for his talent, the poker show definitely did. SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAZY! He referenced his old GF as a B****, and after a bit of drinking in the Loser's Lounge, made a nasty comment about women's "Jugs." Ick!
About 10 days ago, I saw Star Jones Reynolds on it in a repeat from 2004. She wasn't huge or really thin at the time. Midway, I'd say. More interestingly, she was incredibly quiet. Almost subdued and shy. It was fascinating to see how she acted before she lost the weight, and gained the delusions. It was clear that she tempered her behavior because she felt out of her depth, but I think it was more than that. She just seemed more..... normal... than she's become now, so I have to think the weight loss/gastric bypass and wedding let out the inner crazy. That said, she *did* however insist on champagne throughout and still had her seal clap, but as compared to now, definitely more sane.
Other fleeting impressions which may or may not be accurate: Gina Gershon would be fun as hell to party with; Cheryl Hines is incredibly annoying and I just wanted to slap her; Dennis Rodman takes advantage of his crazy image; and Chris Meloni is utterly adorable.
So, any other fans of the show?

Me! Although I had a hard time getting into the most recent season because my poker boyfriend Phil Gordon was no longer hosting.
I do like poker, but I have to agree with you that the best part of this show is watching the celebrities interact and loosen up. The first season ( and maybe the second) had a table of West Wing actors and that was fun. Also, one of the final championship matches came down to Maura Tierney and Lauren Graham. MT was completely wasted by the end of the show, so that was entertaining as well.
The biggest tool was Scott Stapp of Creed ( big surprise - I know). Not only was he an ass, but he wasn't paying attention to the game or what the hands were.

Yay, another fan. I liked Phil Gordon, although I didn't always understand what he was talking about since my poker skills are painfully minor. I didn't watch the West Wing series because Allison Janey rubs me the wrong way. That said, I would like to see it now just to watch John Spencer, whom I adore and who will be sorely missed. For Chris Meloni fans, set your VCRs or TiVos to tape Monday morning's episode which will have Meloni, Joy Behar, Andy Dick, Macy Gray and Robin Tunney.
