Anyone watch last night? I was actually expecting the worst, but thought it was a pretty decent premiere. I think somewhere, Frank is STILL talking. I actually had to mute the tv because he wouldn't stop talking. I was waitint for DT to fire him because he didn't know when to shut up. His face when Trump fired Martin was priceless, though.

I was surprised Trump let him keep talking. I actually walked out of the room, because I couldn't stand. I have TIVO, so I just press rewind to catch who was fired.

His face when Trump fired Martin was priceless, though. I had forgotten about that till I watched it again. His face went from utter misery to "HEY! I WON THE LOTTERY!" in 0.1 seconds! It was an utterly tacky display ( Tacky? On this show? Naaahhh...) of bad sportsmanship - his face went so far past gloating I can't even describe it! At least look a little somber, dude. You don't have to bust out crying, but there's no need to look like Mom just handed you cotton candy! And then his response - "He said it! 'Martin, you're fired'!" Wow - what are you, dude? Ten years old?

The fake phone call with Melania in the limo was pretty funny too. Melania sounded like a drunken old woman and they put in a couple of cooing sound effects to pretend like Trump was talking to the baby too.

Someone on TWoP claimed that the cooing effects were a standard "baby sound" that all sound-editing departments have on hand. I don't know enough about sound effects to confirm that, but it seems likely. And it's funny as hell.
Melania looked pissed off in that "happy family" shot in front of the mansion. She married the man, though, she must have known what she was getting into.
Martin deserved to be fired for wearing those clothes. That was the most eye-searing combination I've ever seen.

Was it meant to be funny on purpose?

It's never-endingly irksome that someone so bereft of class, taste and dignity (Trump) is held up as a model of business acumen, when his failures have been so spectacular and his successes are usually accompanied by dumb luck and consumed by those with even less class, taste and dignity than he. Why does New Money need to behave so... new-moneyish?
And again this season we're presented with a gaggle of contestants so annoying, so cliched in their ass-kissery as to make me glad I downloaded the show and thus was able to consume the first episode in less than an hour. Although, that said, I'd totally get drunk and nasty with Tim. He hot, in a HBS-y kinda way.
The only upside is that Ivanka, that punching bag of SPY in the late '80s, turned out to be pretty okay. Diggin' that deep-timbred voice and her fairly articulate defense of the family empire. She needs a big-girl haircut now, but that's a minor quibble.

I absolutely refuse to post this in the Celebrity Encounters thread, but it was just too bizzarre not to bump this thread over - I mean, the coincidence is just freaky!
Today I was on the subway, and I was reading my book, which happens to be Carolyn Kepcher's book, Carolyn 101 - which, just as an aside, despite what you think of her, of Donald Trump, or of the show, and despite the fact that Trump fired her from the organization, the book is a really great book for women working in a business environment, regardless of whether you're an assistant or at a much higher level. It's a great resource for any working woman.
ANYHOO - I'm reading, and the train is getting close to my stop (I was going into the city), so I set the book down and look at the woman sitting across from me - and it was that obnoxious little rat, Stacy R. from season two! You know, that short little bitchface with the stringy hair? And I'm sitting directly across from her reading Carolyn's book! Ha!!! So anyway, I close the book really fast, and put it on my lap face down so she can't see what it is I'm reading, and then we pulled into my stop, and I got off. She looks better than she did on the show - I mean, the face is still pinched and rat-like, but her hair's a little longer, and she has some blonde highlights added in so it's not quite so blah looking the way it was on the show.

Damn. I missed Derek's firing because I switched over to Brothers and Sistes for a few minutes. Anyone see it?
But I did love how frustrated Trump was looking as Randall continually talked over him. Hee!

It's a great resource for any working woman. I think the fact Trump fired her only works in her favour. She was the reason I watched the show and, frankly, even though I hafta give some respect to Ivanka, after the whole homophobia-laced, swimsuit-competition firing in Episode 2, I could no longer subject myself to the blowhard and his bottom-feeder contestants acolytes. I'd totally give Carolyn the thumbs-up.
