I watched some of tonight's episode. I do not find "Mel Silverback" aka the guy in a gorilla costume to be funny at all. I thought the Canadian guy that did the bit about the airbags smelling like cookies should have gone in his place. Obviously the judges didn't care about the crowd b/c hardly anyone was laughing at the chimp but everytime they showed the judges they were in hysterics.

I just read that Arj Barker is in the show this season. I might have to watch, since he's also in the Flight of the Conchords show on HBO this season (and I love FotC).

There was a female comedian who blatantly ripped off a line from Clueless, which just happens to be running on HBO this month. I can't remember who she is or if she got through, but she better hope that Amy Heckerling wasn't watching.

I saw April Macie open for some dude at the Laff Stop last Wednesday. Just to let you know, she's still doing the same shitty, non-funny jokes, and she really needed to dye her hair again. Her brown roots looked bad enough that my guy friends made fun of her.

I only saw a little bit last night---I generally hate these beginning episodes because there are so many BAD comics out there. Bad to the extent that I just feel sad for them and I feel sick when I watch them.
I was amused that they did the bit about how sick they are of dirty comedians. I'm no prude but I have to agree. It's for network television--why are you cussing so much?

Last night's show reminded me of how much I can't stand Doug Benson. There were at least 3 funnier comics at the Minneapolis showcase that should have gone through instead of him. Go back to VH1's Best Week Ever and stay there.

I think Doug Benson is very funny on Best Week Ever but there's a big difference between being a "funny person" and being a comedian. I think he's just a funny person.
