It's back, starting tonight on NBC. Jay Mohr, who created the show, has been replaced by Anthony Clark of "Yes Dear" infamy, for some reason. Here's the LinkI've thought some have been really, really funny, and some have not, and don't understand why they only let the studio audience vote, instead of we the viewers. And I was one person who thought Ralphie May was going to win, and was pretty funny. It's the first of the summer Reality TV series. Anyone ready for some TV-friendly humor?

This show annoys me in the fact that it seems like it's soo staged. Like that Doug Benson guy is in some of the commercials. OK, this guy is on Best Week Ever and has had tiny parts in Friends and "Yes, Dear". It seems so staged. Like there might be one or two comedians who walk in off the street and make it to the finals but it's overwhelming like these "insiders" in the comic world who still haven't made it big yet.
I really can only watch the beginning of it with the try-outs because by the end of the season I am sick of hearing everyone's one stand-up routine that they've been doing week after week.
I didn't like Ralphie May and I hated that this show unleashed Ant onto the world.
But I'll watch. Because I'm weak and there's nothing else on.

Despite loathing this show for the debacle of the Dat Phan vs Dave Mordal = Dat Phan wins!, I'm watching for the same reason as Jensational—nothing else on. It's also the reason I watch Real World/Road Rules Challenge.
Where oh where IS Dave Mordal hiding anyway? Man was hysterical.

I'm only 20 minutes in, but the thing that made me laugh the hardest so far was the very beginning when they totally neglected to mention Dat Phan among the very successful winners. BURN!
I don't like that the likes of Bill Dwyer and Doug Benson are even allowed to try out. If I can see you on VH1's I Love the 80s, you aren't exactly unknown.

Did anyone see Theo from Real World/Road Rules? He was a tryout in L.A.
I guess he got tired of being around those losers *snort*

Cringe Humor did an expose just how much of a scam LCS is. Not anything we don't know now, but interesting all the same. Part One.Part Two.Part Three.

"Theo," I've read much funnier things about Federslime on this board. I enjoyed the guy who asked the audience if he looked like Hank Hill—and the guy from Best Week Ever who said he had three beautiful children—well, four children, but only three were beautiful. SPOILER: << I read somewhere (possibly TWoP) that Doug Benson does not make the final cut.. >>

I missed most of the first hour but I swear that in one of the city's at the "final night performance" I saw that girl who auditioned last year and made it pretty far. Can't remember her name but her husband was also in stand-up and they had some babies. She made it and he didn't or something. Anyway, I think they have their own show on Oxygen or something. I don't think you should be able to audition if you don't have your own show.
I'm always mystified by the people who make it to the night auditions. Some people definitely have their own routine and you can tell thety actually do stand-up on a semi-regular basis. Others (like the guy without a shirt covered in his own man fur) just talk in weird voices and have no "act". Why do they make it through?

The one with the lisp sounds exactly like the babysitter in The Incredibles. I couldn't decide if she was funny or just weird.
The Cerebral Palsy guy, though, is definitely funny.
I liked the gay football comedian Steve Kennedy, but then, he's totally my type, so I could be biased.
I was positive that Skippy from "Family Ties" would make it though, if nothing else for the publicity for the show. And he was kinda funny, too.
The "Road Rules" guy, though... not funny at all. And he made it through. What's up with that?
I knew Bill Dwyer looked familiar.
All in all, okay, but no favorites yet.

I'm so happy the Road Rules guy did not make it. So happy.
But I'm going to be the lone person who doesn't think the Cerebral Palsy guy is so hilarious. He's funny. Yes, very funny. But I can see me getting really tired of "You're all going to hell for laughing at me" Plus, I'm getting a little annoyed at how the audience is like "Wow, what a funny, triumphant comic!" Like when they gave him the standing ovation. He was just as funny as the Hell's Angels looking guy. Plus, it seems like a lot of his "I'm not drunk I just have cerebral palsy" jokes are taken from Jeri on Facts of Life.
And for all of that, I am certainly going to hell.
