If you saw previous seasons with Spencer, you would see his real motive. He's been extremely emotionally and verbally abusive to his wife (before they were married), would do completely HORRIBLE things to her friends (like send rumors about a sex tape that LC was never in, but he claimed was), he manipulates and lies, but really, the list could go on.
I think he's funny with him being so absurd. He tries to act all funny and whatnot, but really, he thinks he's a King -- and almost changed his name to King Spencer last month.

I agree, I think you really had to watch the earlier seasons to really get the Spencer hate. Heidi had a different boyfriend in the beginning of Season 1 and then Spencer came along with his "well, I say 'get out of my car'" arrogance. He was awful to Lauren, on the show and in 'real life' - spreading stories about her to Perez Hilton, and he was behind the sex tape rumor. All of this also coincided with Heidi's plastic surgery and her growing dependence on him. He's just a vile person. Or, as Lauren would say, "he's a sucky person, Heidi."

They're showing older episodes on some other channel (WB, CW?) during the day. Pre-Spencer Heidi looks so different. She's so plastic looking now. Yuck.

The Spencer background: Basically Spencer was That Guy. The one who jerked your friend around, cheated on her with others and with her own friend. And then when you stood by her and let her cry on your shoulder and assured her that she was better off? She then went back to him, turned her back on you, accused you of being jealous, got plastic surgery (but just for "herself" and in no way because her boyfriend has cheated on her with Playmates before), let her boyfriend spread lies about you, make up nicknames for your *ahem* private areas, leak sex tape rumors, talk crap about you to US Weekly, and all the while she stood by him giggling and lying for him and insisting they never did ANYTHING to you.
Okay, the analogy falls apart somewhere around the sex tape rumors with Perez Hilton and the US Weekly interviews, but the rest of it was really relateable at the time, and it was nearly impossible not to feel for Lauren and hate Spencer and Heidi.

I love how I don't have to watch this show to still get little nuggets of joy like this one to make me laugh: Spencer considers a VasectomyGod. He had a moment of clarity, yet, still we have a chance that they'll have spawn. Don't you think this would have been a good thing to discuss before you got married? Heeeeee! "When you don't tell me, you're lying to me." Spencer: "How's that?"

This week's episode was one of the most boring I've seen. I feel like I need a lobotomy when Heidi and Spencer's storyline is the ONLY thing that bothers me.
I hate Lo SO, SO much. Every time she's on screen I want to throw something.

I haven't watched The Hills since Lauren left, but I was able to catch the very last episode that aired. Apparently, MTV had filmed an alternate ending. The original ending with Brody being on a lot was pretty awesome and was probably the correct ending to choose. However, something about seeing Lauren at the very end was nice as well, just because the show started because of her and I think it should have ended with her. ETA: Due to this alternate ending, I took a stroll on Lauren's Instagram and apparently, Frankie got married a couple months ago. Lauren posted a lovely picture of Frankie and his bride from the wedding, and from the very small amount of what I could in the picture, it looked like a small wedding (going by Hollywood standards) which tells me, these two actually kept in touch even after filming was over. Lauren and Frankie may have needed to become friends because of the show but they stayed friends even after the show. That picture reminded me of why it was so much easier to watch Lauren on the Hills versus Kristen, Lauren actually formed genuine friendships with the people on the show/worked with and with Kristen, you never felt/saw that.

I always felt that Kristen was just as bad as her "character" on the show. She was attention seeking and money grubbing. Lauren seemed just as 'normal' and down-to-earth as she appeared. I met her & Lo once at a fashion show for LC's line in Orange County while the show was still on the air and they were as nice as nice could be. There were no TV cameras, no major press and yet they seemed genuine. I love this alt-ending and think it should have ended that way. Sort of an FU to the haters and all the other loser characters that tried to come across as valid. Adore the way that Lauren sticks her tongue out! But this will forever be the best 'alt-ending' for the show. ETA: (fixed the link!)
