I don't believe it either. On an unrelated Jai note, I always feel very badly for him because I think he must have had a hellish time coming out. He's vaguely mentioned something in the past about a difficult relationship with his parents and in last week's episode, he said his parents were total Born Again fundies. Ouch!

I remember that. It was a reddish burgundy screen/painting of sorts. He *is* very talented, and also has a great sense of humour. Very dry and impish.

Ted has been a judge a few times on Iron Chef America and it's been interesting to see him in action. He's not as much of a soft, push-over as he is on QE, which makes me wonder what some of the rest would be like in different forums or contexts. Carson is the same, because we've seen him all over, and Kyan more or less too, but Thom or Jai?

Topic about the show itself: I don't know how many of you saw the show with the cancer girl but it seemed to me that she and her husband got a disproportionately huge amount of expensive stuff. Not only their whole house refurnished but also the vacation, wedding, mothers flown out to Bermuda, all the clothes, and the ton of tech gadgets, etc. Does anyone know how the financial breakdown per makeover comes to and whether they really spend all the same amount per person? Because even with contributed gifts for product placement, I think that one couple got a TON more than anyone else.

Oh! How did I miss that there was a QE thread? Not to brag, but I know several of the guys. I love that you guys love the show! Seems like their fanbase (online, at least) has sort of faded.

Yes, the thing about Jai being bi is nonsense -- all of them are gay. Some crazy chick came up to him at a fan event and started raving about how she was going to "fix him" of being gay, and flashed her boobs, then she a friend of hers sold a story to innocently told a tabloid about them sleeping together, and the story got repeated everywhere. Jai was really angry about it and did deny it, but surprise surprise his denial didn't get a quarter the press attention as the original story. I have heard Jai make sarcastic comments and joke around about "oh yeah I'm the bi one" in interviews since then, though, which maybe some people take seriously.

Oh yeah, and the painting Groovethang mentioned -- I adored that. I thought it was very Rothko-esque.

Well, Jai never really knew his father (he was married) and his mother is a Born Again Christian and didn't deal with it well. Interesting article.
