Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

There used to be a thread but it vanished. I know India and I will probably be the only ones to post here but it's such a guilty pleasure. The episode this week about the transgendered Girl-to-Guy actually made me sniffly. And last week's episode about the young cancer bride who got a 2nd honeymoon and wedding on the pink sands of Bermuda also got to me.

It's totally canned, it's scripted, it's corny, and it's over the top, but I can't help but tune in every week. And whether it's an injured Iraqi vet, a hugely burnt NY Firefighter recovering after months in a coma, or a transgendered girl whose Born Again Christian parents love her as "Miles," this show is just sweet, imo.

So, talk about your favorite episodes and Queer Guys here. India, this means you can indulge in your lust for Carson.... who, if I may say, looked pretty damn good in the last episode.... Alas, I must repeat, Carson is not involved in ANY of the many rumours about the Queer Eye guy who is supposed to be into women and seeing a woman on the side.

Yes, yes, it's time for all Greecies who don't hang out with us in the True Confessions thread to know my fairly open secret - that I'd do absolutely anything to turn Carson Kressley straight. ANYTHING. (Yeah, yeah, I know - most women would give their right arm for a shot at Kyan, who *is* gorgeous, that's true, but what can I say - I'm a sucker for blondes!)

Kafka speaks the truth - My Gay Boyfriend Carson looked so gorgeous in the last episode with the transgendered young man.

And what a great ep it was! I bawled like a baby for the first time ever during that show. When Miles was given the internship to counsel transgendered teens, I cried. And when his father just positively scooped Miles and his mother up in his arms for that huge hug at the end, I cried even more! It was so sweet, and so great to see the support and love he was getting.

Any other fans out there? Surely it can't just be Kafka and myself!

Really? I'd never chose Kyan out of the group. I have a very big weak spot for Thom (house/home design) and Ted (cooking). It could be because my interests are slanted that way but I genuinely think they are adorable.

I'd DIE to know which one is secretly Bi and has a GF on the side.

I've sniffled before. A few seasons back, there was an Iraqi vet who wanted to get married to his sweetheart, and that made me sniffle. Actually, no, I cried like a baby! And last week's episode almost brought it on too. But I have a question about that: Carson admitted that he got more expensive stuff for people he liked. *AND* the whole package must have cost about 3 times their regular show allowancee. Wasn't that a bit unfair? Why the bias? The woman's cancer story was hard but really, I've seen much more deserving couples. Adding up the monetary commitment, I think the cancer bride got tens of thousands more than the others. Yes, a huge portion of the cost is met by donations for advertising but stilll..... That always applies to every case. So why the bias?

I'm not sure - I'd have to watch it again. I thought he said he got stuff he liked better for people he liked more - I could be wrong. But if you heard something about 3X the budget, I could have heard wrong.

Yeah, that is biased - I dunno, maybe because they thought that the cancer bride's story was so much more heart wrenching? Maybe the whole aspect that they found out she was sick on their honeymoon, so they didn't have one. I'm not saying it's right - I agree, there really shouldn't be any bias among those who've had a hard time of it. Do they decide what to get, or do the producers decide?

Count me in, ladies -- I love these guys (with a gay-guy crush on Ted, whom I find even more adorable and witty than the other four). I just finished reading Carson's book for men on how to dress -- great fun, and I learned so much from it. (I'd kill to sit in the stands at a horse show with Carson, drink wine, and dish on the competitors.) Mr. Sunnyhorse enjoys the show as much as I do.

The last ep, with the transgendered roommates, was great -- did that boy look like Harry Potter, or what? His family seemed lovely and kindhearted and accepting -- nice people.

Last season I really enjoyed the show with the VFW members posing for the nudie calendar to raise funds for their children's charity -- lots of fun and very sweet.

Mr Sleepy and I used to watch this show without fail, and then we just stopped. I don't know what happened. I honestly didn't even know it was still on.

I love this show, too! But, like Sleepy, I used to watch it pretty religiously and then just stopped watching because I didn't know when it was on, and since I work full-time and go to school, I let my TV habits die down. They're all awesome but I love Carson's and Thom's segments the most.
