I'm a Beatles girl. And while I love Paul, I've always had a great affection for Ringo in part because we're both left-handed and his birthday is near mine so we're the same astrological sign.
When I was in middle school, I discovered a pile of my mom's old 45 singles in the basement and I listened to Yesterday over and over and over again. I was just struck by how a such a relatively simple song could be so beautiful.

The Beatles soothe my soul. I personally liked George best. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

I've always been partial to George as well. Marwa Blues is a beautiful piece of music, and the score he did for "Wonderwall" is a pretty fascinating listen -- some tracks work better than others but it's a pretty intriguing experiment.

Did you know Fisher-Price makes The Beatles in The Yellow Submarine Little People? So adorable! Of course they're available on amazon.
ETA: I have a soft spot for George too! And we have the same birth date =)

To each his own. Considering they're one of the most beloved bands of all time, I think he's probably in the minority on that one.

My 15 year old is a huge Beatles fan. He taught himself how to play Blackbird, Here Comes the Sun, and Strawberry Fields on guitar and Come Together on bass. He is always rhapsodizing about the composition of their songs. Ask him who his musical idol is and he says, "Paul, no question." His Beatlemania amuses me. I myself have always been a Pink Floyd girl. Aaand...Pink Floyd was signed and produced by Norman Smith, who stopped being the engineer on the early Beatles recording sessions to work with Floyd. Small world.

I've heard this from other some other musicians as well. Musicians don't generally trash each other like this, however.

I grew up listening to my dad's Broadway cast albums, classical music, and every Disney soundtrack available. One day my dad came home and I asked him if he would buy me a record. He asked me what I wanted, thinking there must be a new Disney movie coming out, and I told him I wanted Hey Jude. I was four.
There were no record stores in our hometown, so he asked the owner of the local music store to order it for me. It took forever to get there, but one day my dad walked in, went straight to the record player, and put on my first 45. I still have it.
