I have to admit that I like both Say, Say, Say and Ebony and Ivory, but I was in middle school and a Michael Jackson fan (when he was hitting the Thriller level of fame, before he started getting creepy...or when the creepiness was setting in but not yet evident). So those songs remind me of staying up late on Friday and Saturday nights to watch Night Tracks on TBS. I had a 45 of Ebony and Ivory.
But, yes, they are not Beatles-level artistry.

My parents had the Beatles' "red" and "blue" albums and played them a lot when I was a little kid. So the Beatle appreciation has been there as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is running around the living room while "Lady Madonna" played.

She is a bigger fan of Gerry and the Pacemakers because Gerrry Marsden (R.I.P.) still lived in Liverpool and they wrote songs like “Ferry Across the Mersey”, which reminds her of her hometown. Hell, when I took my 23 and Me ancestry kit, I have ancestry from the Merseyside! This shit is literally in my genes! Ferry Across the Mersey is a lovely song. I went on the ferry when I was a kid, but all I remember is another kid got his foot trapped when he slid down the bannister. They had a lot of trouble getting him free. I did the Ancestry DNA test. Tracing my tree is rather annoying because they all moved to Liverpool or West Derby as soon as they were able to. There are other places in the country. Grr! LOL. No need for apologies. I should probably apologize for posting that here and not in the Stars I Hate thread. None of their music is my vibe and I think they're insanely overrated and overtalked about so I think I get irrationally angry when I even see the band name. Read "irrational" and that would be me when it comes to them. It might come from my dad's love for them and all of their non-Beatles projects too that contributed to this (I don't hate my dad, just his taste in music) so had to hear it on many childhood road trips. I don't think it's irrational at all. If you're not interested in something but you're constantly having to hear about the subject, apathy soon turns to dislike, then to outright hatred because someone's banged on about the subject that freaking much. My disinterest in the Beatles may have been subconsciously programmed into me as a child, my mother couldn't stand them. Her reasoning was that they were too "square" (she loved The Rolling Stones), which is hilarious because a. they weren't choirboys and b. SHE was the epitome of square. Oldest of 6 Irish Catholic, straight A student, never smoked, drank, or did any kind of drugs. But that was my earliest impression of the Beatles, so it always carried a slightly negative connotation without much thought. She also loathed Elvis for reasons unknown (perhaps over saturation, like how I felt about N Sync or Britney Spears, they were inescapable and I didn't get it), but I quite like his music anyway. As an adult, I can say I respect their talent and like-to-love a small handful of their songs, but their music doesn't move me. I grew up listening to 60s music even though it was the 1990s and I love so many artists from that era, but the Beatles just don't stir anything genuine in me.

I remember in high school being asked which I liked--The Beatles or Elvis--the idea being that people would only be a fan of one or the other. I picked The Beatles, partially because Elvis always creeped me out, and that take still holds today.

My best man/former studio partner had always professed disinterest in the Beatles, but 30% of his record collection would be described as “Beatlesque”....

I have noticed that some Beatle bashers that hate the group, but love another music artist that is heavily indebted to the Fab Four. Anyone have a favorite Beatles movie (with the band in it)?

I'm going to hold off on naming a favorite until after I've watched The Beatles/Get Back on Disney+ -- I strongly suspect that I will love it. In the meantime, Ds3 wants to watch A Hard Day's Night, which I recorded the other night...

Is there another artist whose version of a Beatles song you love already but love their version equally or even more ( ok I’ll admit I’m just looking for and excuse to post The Long and winding road, George Michael his vocals here are so good. Before I got to the second part of your sentence, I immediately thought of George's version of "The Long and Winding Road". It makes me cry every time I hear it. Another one I like: Earth, Wind & Fire's "Got to Get You Into My Life".

Does All You Need Is Cash count? George was in it, after all!
