Late to the game, but I really enjoyed the documentary. I know a lot has been said about Paul and John but I also enjoyed Billy Preston as well. He was just thrilled to be there and it showed every time! I’m also shocked Disney kept all uses “fuck” in.
Personally, I always thought George Harrison released the best post Beatles album with All Things Must Pass. With that said I also think Paul McCartney’s Ram deserves more love. Is it weird? Yes. And Paul knew it. Plus, he managed to make Linda’s voice work which John was never really successful at with Yoko.

I’m glad Disney+ didn’t scrub any of the profanity, those Scouse blokes sure loved to swear! I can rationalize the initial bad press for Ram received as the media’s bitterness about the end of the Beatles, and wanting to pin it on Paul and taking it out on his album. Even Paul dissed the album until the tide of opinion turned in its favor. I did enjoy hearing “The Backseat of My Car“ in the Get Back documentary along with “Another Day”.

Marwa Blues is a lovely instrumental piece by George. The older I get the more it's shocking to realize he was only 58 when he died.

I ignored Ram for decades, until I saw a YouTube video make the case for it.
It basically boiled down to “The biggest rockstar in the world realized he could make an album anyway he felt like, no matter how weird, and then did it!”

Anyone have any favorite Beatles podcasts? My favorites are: Something About the Beatles(good choice of topics, good interviews) Screw It, We’re Just Gonna Talk about the Beatles (irrreverant and conversational) Another Kind of Mind(mostly focused on John and Paul, but worth a listen) Secondary question: are there any of your personal favorite Beatles references in other media? I’m not a fan of Family Guy, to put it mildly, but this bit makes me laugh guiltily, I have a feeling John would really be curious about that!

( silly o clock) The coolest and best new year vibes xx I didn’t know if I should have had a warning for the pantlessness, but you’re welcome! Unfortunately, some sad news: Denis O’Dell, Beatles producer, dead at 98.Also, I don’t remember seeing the news on this, but Maureen Cleave died last November.Another question for the Beatle fans here: is there a bit of lore than you always assumed was true? I always thought “Norwegian Wood” was about John’s affair with Cleave, but it could have been Sonny Freeman, wife of photographer Robert Freeman (he did the album covers from With the Beatles to Rubber Soul). The Beatles rooftop concert is coming to IMAX!Of course, I’m too far away from any IMAX theaters…great.

Julian Lennon sings Imagine publicly for Ukraine for the first time. Well I don’t know about anyone else but it made me quite emotional hearing him sing his father song for all the reasons. ( Random, Julian’s Too late for Goodbyes is one of my fave 80s tracks )

So glad to see this thread back on page 1! I’m glad Julian’s made peace with his father’s legacy and I’m also glad he’s doing this for a great cause. “Too Late for Goodbyes” is an eternal bop and Pop-Up video on the music video’s making is a trip (starts at 0:56)!
