I have to give them credit for making me think all season that Rex was most definitely going to be at least one person who was destined to die by the end of the miracle. I'm not usually surprised, they got me with that one.

Netflix streaming was showing this and it doesn't seem to be there now. Is it being shown anywhere (legally, of course!) or do I have to wait for the DVDs?

Really, you're not missing much, as Children of Earth (S3) is pretty much the height of Torchwood and one of the best sci-fi miniseries I've ever seen, but S1-3 seem to still be up on Netflix Streaming. Starz and Netflix's agreement is all muddled right now but I think the status when it first started was that Starz shows would be delayed by 90 days before hitting streaming (so that folks wouldn't just say "fuck it" to subscribing to Starz).
That said, provided the next season features copious amounts of Jilly Kitzinger fucking things up with glee, it won't be all bad. Who knew that Lauren Ambrose could be such a delightful villainess?

I know I'm way late, but I just watched season 4 (on Starz) and then season 3 online. "Miracle Day" as a concept seemed so cool, but in comparison to "Children of Earth," I absolutely hated it. I was doubting why I liked the show to begin with, and then CofE had me on the edge of my seat. OMG, Ianto! I somehow managed to coast along unspoiled about his death and that put me through the ringer. He was such a sweet guy and so in love with JH (who I alternately love/hate, depending on the day). Is this going to get a S5 or is it still up in the air? I think HD does Barrowman a disservice; I usually think he's attractive, but either bad makeup or terrible closeups made him look overly made up, and that plus the cleft chin, dimples, pouty lips--he seemed like a Ken doll. An older, trying to look younger Ken doll. Anyway, wow, Children of Earth. Good stuff!

Russel T Davies' husband was diagnosed with brain cancer so he gave up work and stopped all his TV projects in order to care for him. I believe he is in remission now, though - they got married just before Christmas and he looks healthier in the photos. Torchwood S5 hasn't been cancelled, technically, but it's entirely dependent on RTD a) returning to work at all, b) deciding he wants to do another series and c) getting the BBC and/or Starz on board.

Ah, thanks for the update, tszuj. With shows branching out to different channels and formats now, there's the option--if the actors are available--of pulling together a half season or mini-series if he wants. I just saw Barrowman in Zero Dark Thirty, it was refreshing to see him out of the coat (and so much makeup).
