I just got my 50 inch Sony HDTV and now I am a HDTV addict. Watching something on regular TV is quite the letdown now.
And, boy do I feel sorry for some TV personalties. You can't hide flaws now. I watched last week's ER. Maura Tierney didn't look as cute because of the blemishes one can clearly see. The guys on ESPN don't get off easy either. The one ex-QB now commentator looks about 60 with a bad spray on suntan.
My favorite channels are Discovery HD theatre and HD music channel from MTV.

TTMR and I got an HDTV a couple of years ago, and we went through the same thing. We would watch nature documentaries just because they were in HDTV.
Hockey in HDTV is a thing of beauty.

Great thread Topher!!! I love watching nature programs and sports (football) on HD. It's really amazing!!! One of the best things I have seen on HD is the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics and some skating competitions. The colors are so vivid and the picture is so crisp. The Desperate Housewives and certain people on Grey's Anatomy look really rough on HD.

Discovery showed a helicopter tour of the Rhine. That was incredible.

Sports on HD is just amazing. I'm all over basketball games like I never have been before, and do I get pissed when our local team's games are only available on one of the non-HD networks.
I find local news broadcasters come out the worst in HD. Some of those people look like trolls!

The Tournament of Roses Parade this morning was awesome in HD.
I had no idea MTV had an HD channel.. that's the one thing that sucks, it's up to our local Time Warner outlet to decide what we get to see. It appears there is also a National Geographic HD channel, but we don't get that one either.

The Tournament of Roses Parade this morning was awesome in HD. No shit; I was over at mom's house today and we watched it. I had to leave as that special about China was on, WOW was that awesome. I need my own HDTV.

My parents bought an HDTV today to replace a TV in the basement family room that broke (nobody uses that room anymore except my dad, so nobody noticed). However, they have no intentions to upgrade our cable service to get HD channels. Why bother getting an HDTV if you're not going to use it to its potential?

^^ You can get a basic rabit-ears antenna and pick up all of the local broadcast channels in HD, if you live near a city that is. I'm such a HD geek now that I got an HDTV tuner for my computer, and with an antenna I bought for $19.99 at Radio Shack I get the HD versions of ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, Fox, and that new channel that was created when WB merged with whatever that other one was.. I forget the name.

Also, even regular DVDs have more resolution in HD if you're using the right cables. My mom just got a high-def set and, sorry haters, but Sound of Music is gorgeous.
