She's quitting acting for the sake of her son - no, she's not! My favorite part is this quote: “He holds my face and just says, ’Mummy, I’m obsessed with you!’ It is the most enchanting time and I just refuse to miss any of it.” Now...a three-year-old saying he's "obsessed" with Mummy? Mmm...methinks Liz is spinning a wee bit too hard.

Ha! If my six year old son told me that he was obsessed with me, I'd make an appointment with a child psychologist. STAT.

Good Lord that child is going to have issues in about 15 years if that's actually true.

DarlingLily beat me to it -- I refuse to believe a kid that age used the word obsessed, but more to the point, that is a really bizarre sentiment to have for your mother and I, too, would hustle to a shrink -- Maybe to see how I was warping the child.
But as for the real reason she's leaving acting, I don't believe for a second it's that noble. It's dawned on her that she has no career to speak of anyhow, other than showing up everywhere (ala Pamela Anderson) for no real reason except to be photographed. Maybe she noticed she wasn't being photographed as much, and decided to put out this story of not wanting to miss one moment of her child's "obsession" with her.

Dear Ms. Hurley,
Congratulations on your early retirement. And not a moment too soon!
Now that the movie offers have dried up, your days as a cosmetics spokemodel are well behind you, and as Bonsai noted, you're really not photographed as much anymore-- Please feel free to eat. Don't starve on our account. We don't care anymore.
Warmest regards, FotoStoreSheila

This reminds me of that scene in About a Boy where Rachel Weisz's son screams at Marcus, "she's not keen on him. She's only keen on meee!"
Seriously how can a three year old even know the meaning of the word obsessed?

She's pretty brazen refering to what she's done as "acting".

Oh no, ya'll. See, last month she was quitting acting, but now she's starring in a new film. A very short retirement, you see.
I beg of you to read the story, because it gets better--she and Lucy Liu will be fighting over, wait for it,
Cedric the Entertainer!
Because he is the hotness, I guess.

I'm stunned anyone still hires her. In addition to her "acting" fees you have to budget in the digital effects to remove her acne.
And yeah, age three is early to be exhibiting signs of an Oedipal complex.

Well my daughter at three was using words like "inappropriate" and "asinine" He's an only child with a single mother who probably spends most of his time around adults. So his vocabulary isn't going to be that of a standard three year old. And as for the "obsessed" part. He probably isn't using it properly, but using it to mean that he really really loves his mommy.
But I can't say it's any big loss to the acting world if she quits. Beautiful woman can't act worth a darn. And if local rumors are true She's a bitch on wheels. I've several friends that worked on the set of that dreadful movie she made with Matthew Perry here in Dallas.
