The Canadian Channel Vision TV has recently begun re-airing this series. PO5 was probably my first real TV love, in the sense that I took the time to follow it from week to week, to tape it, etc.

The Season 1 DVDs were released probably about 2 years ago, but I don't think any of the other season are out on disc.

I find it interesting that Matthew Fox and Scott Wolf were the only cast members to really find any later success. Plus, on reading episode summaries for the whole series it occurs to me that Party of Five may have been ahead of its time regarding gay characters, because they sure had a lot of them.

But then again, they did live in San Francisco.

Season 2 is also out on DVD now. It's been out for several months. Thank God for Netflix because after I'm finished with Desperate Housewives I have the second season of Party of Five coming.

I can't wait because season 2 is my favorite of the series. I wish they would release the other seasons but I don't know if that's going to happen. My guess is that seasons 1 and 2 have not sold well so they won't bother. I wish a tv channel here in the US would start re-airing episodes then I could just tape it.

God, everyone I knew in college thought this was the greatest show ever.

I kept going, "Stop crying already, Tom Cruise lookalike and Five O'Clock Shadow guy!! You're supposed to be men, act like it!!!"

Yeah, I watched it for about ten seconds before the people in it started to drive me nuts.

ETA - Plus the way they pussed out on the teenaged girl was pregnant storyline with a miscarriage - either go with abortion or carrying the baby all the way. The miscarriage was a horrid way to get out of what could have been a really meaty storyline.

I liked it in the beginning but really started hating all the characters (even the little boy). Also, while I don't need my shows to be all happy and shiny, this one became too depressing. It started off in a sad way (five siblings losing their parents) but it never looked as if things were going to be better for them one day. Everything just got worse and incredibly sad. I stopped watching at one point and kept coming back for the occasional episode. Only to see that another bad thing had happened like Charlie having cancer or Julia being abused by her boyfriend.

Man, I loved this show. Yes, it was a huge sobfest, but some of the moments in it were *so* much fun. Like the ep when everybody helps Charlie sand the bed (or whatever he was building) and they all start lipsynching and dancing around. And again with the dancing, when Claudia's 'request', to Kirsten, "If You Wanna Be Happy" starts playing on the radio, and they dance around the kitchen like fools. Love.

On the other hand, I just finished watching the first two seasons straight through on DVD, and all I could think was that Sarah is just the whiniest, most petulant girlfriend EVER. Nothing Bailey ever did was good enough for her. Man. He found her adoptive mom ahead of time, and purposely steered Sarah away from that situation to spare her feelings? Bastard! He was very concerned about her when she got mugged? JACKASS. Pshaw.

One relationship I always did like was Claudia/Ross. They were awesome.

Finally, I giggled like a twelve-year-old when I watched the Season 2 ep where Claudia's friend (I forget her name, but the bitchy girl who smoked) had a crush on Jim Trow. Why, you ask? Because the actor who played "Jim Trow" went to my high school at the time, and was my partner in French class. He endured eons of teasing for the "You taste like chocolate" line. Good times.

I always liked Kirsten. Someone remind how this show ended - did Charlie and Kirsten end up together?

I also thought Julia and Justin were a great couple. I hated it when the writers gave into the standard television cop-out and ended her pregnancy scare with a miscarriage.

I remember one episode that stood out as being particularly touching was the ep where Claudia discovers her mother may have had more than just a "friendship" with her violin partner.

My sister got the first 2 seasons on DVD and we've been watching them when we get a chance. I watched the entire series run when it was on Fox, but don't remember a lot of the stories. I don't think Charlie and Kirsten got married, but I'm not sure if they actually ended the relationship.

Whenever Kirsten is on, all I do is stare at her skinny body. I believe she had a eating disorder during the show. She wore lots of baggy tops, but you could still tell she was very skinny.

I loved the episode that ended with Hootie and the Blowfish's song Hold My Hand. I sobbed SOBBED during that one.

I loved the earlier seasons but I lost interest around Season 3, I think it was. When the kid was old enough to talk and be annoying.

I thought they did a good job with the "Bailey's an alcoholic" and "Kirsten is depressed" storylines. But like everyone else here after a while I had to stop watching because the misery level was too much.
