Where are you from? At least it's not Spain: they've drawn the "cursed" second slot, the only position that's never produced a winner. Shame --their song's one of the best. I live in Germany's teeny tiny neighbor, the Netherlands. Aww, you're more than our little neighbours, Augustus! Come on, you have royals, we don't and we are jealous! I live in Düren by the way, not too far from the border. Lol, that's just like it's here actually, the bitching has already begun though! Roger's CD sales have been huge since last week though.

The cool thing about being an Australian ESC fan is that you can pick a new country to support every year, whatever your background is (good for me, since Irish/German doesn't give you many good songs). So now that the draws are done, anyone want to make any predictions? The first set of betting odds are interesting. If the TAB takes Eurovision bets, I'm putting $20 on Turkey --I can't believe it's so far down the list!

Our royals aren't exactly things I'd boast about. What is noticeable is the lack of any real media attention to the contest. It seems we don't want to get any of our hopes up, at least not until we've actually secured a place. mutley, thank you for your sympathies, we'll probably need it.

I'm surprised Cyprus is way up there. It's one of my favorites but it has a bad draw and probably won't be all that exciting on stage, so I'm expecting the worst.

You're probably right about Turkey: my favourites never win (they haven't even got out of the semi for the last few years ). Maybe I should switch and give Croatia or Czech Republic the kiss of death instead... If anyone's interested in seeing how the semi draw might affect various songs' chances, someone's compiled clips of all the live performances in order here. Don't write off Cyprus yet: it stands out a lot in the early part of the draw. Belarus might be the one in trouble here, given how similar the Icelandic song is, and how many rock ballads there are overall. So, what do you think of the last three songs, Russia, Hungary and the UK? I like the first two (especially Russia) but the UK sounds like a Eurovision parody. The Slovenian trannies did the hostie thing much better in 2002, anyway.

As for the UK entry? As I said to Mr. K last night...I am willing to bet £20 that they get nil points. Ugh, I can't believe they won.

The funniest thing about it is that the blonde looks like the hostie who shagged Ralph Fiennes.

The real kicker is that the draw happened before they picked an entry, and they knew that they were sandwiched in between two novelty songs. So what did they pick? A novelty song! mutley, you should support Croatia this year if you want them to lose. I'm disappointed in their song this year. Moja Stikla last year was so fun and this year's song is so boring.

Not bad: I got Spain and Georgia as my top 2, and Latvia and most of the Balkan ballads down the bottom. Let's hope the real thing turns out something like this! In my German class, one of our assignments is to create a webpage about a hobby or interest --no prizes for guessing what I picked. I'll be drafting my reviews and predictions in English first; would anyone be interested in reading them if I posted them here? They'll be short, I promise .

Does anyone know a website where they stream the semifinals and finals? I don't have a satellite dish for the first time in several years and I don't want to miss it!
