Wait, Riley is a redhead? I need to change the color contrast on my tv, because he looks like a sandy blonde. I think he's hot, as well, especially the sweet face he'd get when he was sparring with Buffy. I'm trying not to read anything ya'll are saying about Seasons 6 and 7 since I haven't watched them yet, but I'm sneaking peeks to see when Tara dies, I watch The Gift tonight, so I'm hoping it's soon, since she's crazy as a loon right now. I just don't buy her and Willow's relationship at all. They should have made Spike and Xander get together, they have great chemistry.

Oh my lord - I would have loved Spike and Xander together. Originally (according to the producers) the plan was always to have a Scoobie discover they were gay, and the plan was for it to be Xander. Think of his spectacular lack of success with women, the sexual banter with Larry when he thought Larry was a monster ("I know your secret, I have the same one"). But the network balked at a gay character, so a lesbian character was the compromise. 'Cause lesbians are hot, y'all! And gays have cooties! Riley was good looking - I tended to mute his speeches and just look at him. No personality.

Plus, there was that one quote by Xander where he said something about Spike being "muscular yet compact" and Buffy said "I'm not sleeping with him, but I'm starting to think that you are". I think it was in the Buffybot episode. Man, why did it take me so long to get into this show?!?
I appreciate that Willow and Tara's kiss was so nonchalant, unlike when The OC prepped us with the "Very Special Lesbian Kiss Episode" commercials for weeks.

I hated the Giles leaves storyline- so wrong. Willow and her magical addiction made me want to gag. Kennedy- no. So bad and stupid. Dawn was an annoying little plot device who needed a pillow shoved down her throat. Zander in anything but the Zeppo post season 1 annoyed me.
I liked Buffy because she felt real. Hated that she was the only one who really had to deal with the consequences of her actions. (Zander and dancing spell? Willow and general mayhem?) Really hated the kicking Buffy out episode- hello, it's a WAR, you idiots? People get hurt and die in wars.
By the end, I liked Buffy, Spike and Anya. The rest could fall into the Hellmouth.

My favorite exchange ever (from Becoming, Part 2):
I came to the conclusion that, while I liked the character of Buffy, she tended to irritate me in romantic relationships. With Angel, she was whiny and mopey. With Riley, she was boring. Before Spuffy actually happened, I was all for it, but it turned out to be crap, too. I LOVED pre-Season 6/7 Spike...then he took over the show and I could barely stand him anymore.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I loathed Buffy in late Season 7 and was glad when she was kicked out of the house. She was dead to me when she slammed the door in Giles' face at the end of Lies My Parents Told Me (possibly the worst episode ever). I know the writers turned Giles into a weird, stand-offish zombie in Season 7, but still...he was GILES! Season 7 just ruined everyone's character, except maybe Anya.
Favorite episode: changes periodically between a few, but currently Passion. When I first saw it, my heart actually ached for Giles as he walked up the stairs, La Boheme playing in the background...only to find Jenny's dead body in his bed. Angelus was so horribly cruel.

Seasons 2 and 3 just could not be matched. No other seasons were as good.
I hated Buffy by the end too. I think SMG was phoning in her performance. Her friends were all hateful. Anya and Spike were the only 2 I still liked. I think Spike started out with such promise as a character, and then they just destroyed him. I hate David Fury to this day for his comments about Spike fans, that we were all serial killer lovers. Look, you created this amazing, funny, sexy character - don't blame us for liking him.

How could I forget Cordelia? Loooooved her! She was so physically unsuited for the part (c'mon! if you feed 'em steroids and HGH, 10th graders ain't ever gonna look like her) and yet so good in it at the same time. SMG was just lucky her name appeared first in the billing 'cause otherwise no guy on that show would have spared her a second glance when Cordelia was around.
I liked the Mayor, too. He basically took Terry Quinn's Stepfather character and made him fun and even lovable. Mister Trick was great while he lasted, too. The scene at the drive-through window is one of my favorites. Just saw that actor in a serious role recently and couldn't follow at all because I just kept thinking "Damn! There's Mr. Trick and at any minute he's gonna snatch someone and eat their face off."

See, that's why I loved Cordelia: she was so supervampy, it was obvious why boys just wilted in her wake. Even she didn't seem sure why she was still in high school, teetering around in heels and tight sweaters.

I love Cordelia right up until her last season of Angel when her character was completely destroyed.
