The best season of the Real World will always be the very first season. Norm, Becky, Eric, Andre, Kevin and my favorite Real Worlder's EVAH...Julie and Heather B. Good times, good times. I wish they would have reunited them.

The only series of Real World I actually followed were the first 4, but in the early editions the people in the homes were (relatively) normal, well most of them that is. After London I just couldn't get into it anymore. That's how I feel. I loved the first NY and LA and even Boston and Miami. San Francisco was exciting at the time but all of the Puck stuff got old really fast. London was good but sort of boring. I watched it up until Vegas and then I stopped. It got too skanky. They weren't just a bunch of kids living life in front of the camera anymore, it got too rehearsed and skankified and I couldn't deal.

My theory is that it started to go downhill at Boston because that's the first season where they didn't cast any locals. The first few seasons were interesting because it really was a look at how real people were going about their regular lives. Could you imagine if they had someone like Pam on the show now? She'd quite within the first 48 hours.

(I'm posting way too much in this thread) but I agree with what you said about Boston. Not only did they not cast locals in Boston but this was the first season that they all had to work at a job together. So you didn't get any of the fun normal 20-something stuff that you got in San Francisco with Cory crying because she could only find a job at JC Penney's and she hated it. And Mohammed was always working at his job and was never around. Or Beth saving up her sad income in Los Angeles to pay for those nasty head-shots that made her look like she had a moustache (probably because she did).
Those were good times. Watching everyone work at a surf shop is just silly.

But you got the pure genius of the Miami cast trying to start a business together... and failing miserably. ;D

I loved Miami, wasn't that the one with the threesome in the shower? Yeah, between Melissa, Mike, and some random girl. That was hilarious - you had Flora breaking the glass window while trying to get a better look, causing Dan to say: "It doesn't take a genius to see that Flora and Helga and Olga over here are not going to be supported by a pane of glass." I wish Cynthia had been awake during the whole thing just to see her reaction. I loved Boston the most. It had Genesis, who turned into one of my favorite cast members, and it had the Vaj phone freak-out - "WHORE!" "Listen-" "WHOOOORE!" "Listen-" "WHOOOOOOOORE!" "Vaj-" "SELFISH WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!" BTNY was the last season that I saw all the way through - I gave up on Chicago a few weeks in and Las Vegas pretty much killed any love that I had for the show.

What shocked me about Genesis is when I saw her on a reunion show and she looked different. Not like she had changed her hairdo or something. Like she had changed every. single. aspect. of her appearance. She looked like a totally different person.
I just cannot get into these Challenges/Gauntlets/etc. The only reason I would ever watch them is because I have a strange affection for the Dinner Roll guy.

Did anyone else watch Real World XVIII S*#! They Should've Shown? At one point four of them are in the car when Colie(?) has announces she has to take a dump. Instead asking the driver to pull over or holding it in, She peed and crapped in a large envelope that leaked, and threw it out the window. Why are they so disgusting!?!

I moved to Walla Walla, Washington right in the middle of the Chicago season with the town's pride and joy, Tonya. Everytime I told someone where I was headed they were like, "Like that girl from the Real World?!" which got old after a while, as you can imagine. For the record, however, she's pretty hated around here. There were a lot of rumors about the fact that she would get placed with an adopted family and then lie that the father was hitting on her or something, which is why she "never had a family, wah wah wah". Teachers I had in high school who taught her said she was pretty bitchy, except for my psychology teacher, who had her senior picturing hanging up on the wall. Then again, that teacher was kind of a bitch, too...heh. Basically though, she really misrepresented the town. I mean, yes, it's small, and sometimes hickish, but not everyone is quite as bad as her!
