Did anyone watch the premiere last night? It was on ABC after Desperate Housewives.
I liked it well enough, and I'll give it another week or so to get going. Lipstick Jungle (the similar show from Candace Bushnell) premieres in February and I wonder which will end up with the ratings. So far, I'm inclined to stick with Darren Star out of residual Melrose Place love.

Is this always going to be on Sundays at 10? Because following Desperate Housewives is a good fit, but I saw a commercial for a new ep on Wednesday or something. Yes, I need something else on Wednesdays, you bastards. Like Dirty Sexy Money, CSI:NY, Lost, Criminal Minds and Pushing Daisies isn't enough, y'know. Plus, American Idol has to squeeze in there at some point.
As for the show, I thought Miranda Otto was gorgeous; she could play Bree's sister on DH. But she delivered her lines in a rather haughty manner, with none of the humour of Bree. The woman with two kids who was nanny shopping looked about 17 years old to me. I couldn't believe her as a high-powered executive. Lucy Liu was great.

I didn't realize it was going to be on, and caught the end of it. Seemed kind of boring, and I'd been looking forward to this. Maybe it's just because I don't like Lucy Liu. Huh.
If it's going to be on Wednesday, that night is already dedicated to Gossip Girl, Project Runway and later, again, stoopid ANTM. Sorry, ABC. When is Lipstick Jungle supposed to be on?

Cashmere Mafia, Lipstick Jungle.
It's like TPTB sat around a table going, "Well, we need a soft girl word combined with a tough scrappy word." In the garbage can are Battling Blushes, Angels of Steel, Silk Underworld, and Feminine Force.

Right off the bat I was annoyed at the assertion that men in a workplace meeting would expect that some random woman in the room would get them coffee... That was ridiculous. I've worked 25 years in various office environments and not once have I experienced that type of blatent gender-typing. Note to writer: This is 2008, not 1955.... don't be so lazy.

It's usually more subtle, like always asking the only woman in the group to schedule the meetings. Not that that's ever happened to me, oh no.

I've had men in the office ask me to do that, and I've told them to kiss my executive ass.

Is it just me, or does this show have the worst title in the history of television?

So last night was the second ep, and more lazy writing. Since when do moms make decisions about school trips? I'm referring to Zoe booking a SuperBus for her kid's city tour, rather than the smaller, room-for-only-3-moms regular bus that was originally booked. Yeah, right. Esp. in this day and age, where everything has to signed and approved before taking kids off school property, bus drivers need to be checked, etc. So unrealistically lazy. And all just to show up the prowling SAHM.

The double-decker bus was lazy, but I liked that she did something that the other parents could enjoy too. I assume the people on the bus already were the parents from the waiting list, so at least she was helping them in addition to making her point to the SAHM.
I thought the Juliet makeover was odd and out of place - and she looked like a hooker afterward. And after all that, she didn't even meet the guy until the next day.
