I've been watching it and loving it.

The third ep was totally flovable. Except for the gory crossing-the-ocean yuckiness.

I think that was the most annoying depiction of the French of that time, I've seen yet. It seems it was shot through the perspective of Adams, which I think is fantastic. The white make-up on the French court looked ghoulish and nasty. Clearly Adams wasn't cut out for diplomacy. What I found most interesting was the American/French differences in thinking and of each other is the same today.

I've got them all taped on my TIVO, waiting for a time when I can do several uninterrupted hours of historical drama. I can't wait. *savoring*

I just dropped HBO last month after paying for it, but rarely actually watching because there's never anything good on, for over two years! Great timing. I love historical dramas, and that period's one of the most interesting, imo. The good news is it looks like the series is going to be released on DVD in June, so, yay!

Never anything good...on HBO? eb, methinks your standards are just a tad high. I'm scared to turn it on at my house (my last dance with HBO before this went to a bad, codependent place).

You didn't like Rome or Deadwood? I can't wait to see John Adams when it comes out on DVD. I know next to nothing about American history but the early period intrigues me.

Oh, I just found this thread. I love John Adams. Giamatti and Linney are so good. I also really like the guy who is playing Jefferson. I do have to admit that I enjoyed the first several episodes more so than the last ones. I enjoyed the stuff around the revolutionary war. The issues with their children are interesting. Apparently, in a previous life, my brother was John Adams ne'r do well son.
