It is beyond my comprehension how anyone on earth cannot love "Don't Stop Believing". I am not even a Journey fan, per se, but holy hell, that song is amazing. I do know that in many music connoisseur's mind, this negates any cred I may have had, tenuous as it may have been. *shrug* Whatever. It is amaaaaaazing!

My musical adolescence was during the late 70s/early 80s, at the height of Journey's career. To admit liking Journey was suicide in my circle. They are, after all, the textbook example of corporate sellouts.
I took it one step further, and developed a proud contrarian stance of LOVING the first three albums before Perry joined. I grudgingly liked "Wheel in the Sky", but loathed anything else he sang. Though, I hate Kevin Cronin's voice exponentially more.
All that being said, any song that features a Yamaha CP-70 electric grand piano that prominently is, by definition, awesome. Neal has some great guitar work as well. If only that whiney twerp wasn't singing it!
Journey fans: get thee to Netflix! Currently available is a documentary about Arnel Pineda, called "Everyman's Journey". Really good. Made me hate Jonathan Cain a little less, but I still prefer Greg Rollie.

I'm having my own 'Swiftamine' moment. I have never been a fan of Taylor's music. And any time I've seen her perform live, her voice was kind of terrible.
But I fell asleep with the TV on last week and as I was waking up I heard 'Style', and that was it. She got me. I am obsessed with that song. I read that she composed the music with a nod to the pop music of 1989, so it explains why it's so appealing.

Song on 12 Play by Chris Brown. Not only is it a song by him, but it is an homage to R fucking Kelly. Sad part is I didn't need to read about the song to catch the references to pedo's songs because I recognized all the song references. Just read up to get confirmation.
Throw in New Flame with Usher from the same album and I want to slam my head against the wall.

I happen to love Bruno Mars. I'm not sure if that's bad or good but damn, I love up town funk you up! I admit I love a lot of Bruno Mars songs but I'm not sure if that is cool or not.

I just think he's so adorable. I was surprised when I heard he'd been busted for coke and that he was one of the writers for CeeLo Green's "Fuck You" song (the music, not the lyrics, IIRC). Because, you know, adorable people don't do coke or write fuck you songs...they just sit around being adorable all day; that's their only endeavor.

I'm With You by Avril Lavigne. Sick in a foreign country stuck in hotel room all day and that video played every 4 minutes. Love that damn song which is not as bad as:
Lost in You by Chris Gaines aka Garth Brooks. I could do without the lovechild of Anthony Keidis and Prince look he assumed, but that song works.

This is from a week or more back, but NPR had a feature about Since U Been Gone. The piece started with the opening chords and a voice over saying, ""I always play that riff for friends and they think it's Yeah Yeah Yeahs," Eric Mennel says. "But I go, 'No. It's Kelly Clarkson.' " And I bellowed, "NO IT'S KELLY CLARKSON ON NPR, FOOL!"

Wait. ::looks around innocently:: This isn't the True Confessions thread? ::hangs head in further shame::
