My friend and I scored tickets to Pearl Jam and Tom Petty at Summerfest in Milwaukee. We're way in the back (I refuse to pay that kind of money for a concert ticket, especially when there was $20 worth of TicketBastard fees), but I don't care.

I saw Pearl Jam 3 years ago at Alpine Valley and it was one of the best shows I've been to.

The radio stations around here are referring to this as the Petty and Eddie show.

I saw 30 Seconds to Mars last month and they weren't too bad. I like their newest album (haven't heard the first one) and Jared Leto is nice to look at. I was surprised at how good they sounded live (he really can sing), although I felt really old in the dark basement club. Lots and lots of teenagers (most of whom were there for Aiden, who I've never heard of)..... I gave props to lots of parents who sat through that show for their kids.

They also came on stage as a fake warm up band becasue Los Lobos was late.

Yep

During the 3rd leg of Joshua Tree tour in 1987, U2 developed alter egos as a country and western band known as The Dalton Brothers or sometimes simply The Daltons. This band consisted of four seasoned musicians:

Betty Dalton (Adam),
Luke Dalton (Edge),
Alton Dalton (Bono) and
Duke Dalton (Larry).



They even had the honour of opening for U2 at a couple of shows in the US on November 1st at the Hoosier Dome My show, Indianapolis and on November 18th at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. They reappeared on December 12th at the Hampton Coliseum in Virgina - only this time there were a few personnel changes as U2's crew took on the roles.

Playing such large outdoor venues, many fans didn't actually realise at first that the strange pseudo country and and western band on stage was in fact U2, especially if they were a long way from the stage. Given the fact that they tended to wear wigs, sunglasses and some pretty tasteless clothing, that's hardly surprising. Typically The Daltons played just a couple of songs - Lucille and The Lost Highway being two regulars in the set. You can hear an mp3 of the band performing Lucille here.

Ooh I saw Tom Petty at Red Rocks a few years back, it was a great concert. I think Dishwalla opened for him back then. There was a great energy in the air and the whole show just rocked.

Speaking of Red Rocks... Did you know that 1964 The Tribute set the attendance record there? (on the Red Rocks website, the pic that looks like the Beatles - the first one that comes up - that's 1964)

I'm not one much for tribute bands, but I gotta say, they're pretty good. If you get a chance to see them - do.

I saw Depeche Mode last Thursday! I went with a friend and I'm admittedly not that familiar with all their music, but they were TERRIFIC. The crowd was great as well and it was just a really, really anjoyable concert. I highly recommend them to anyone if they get the chance. Also, the lead singer with dark hair is very sexy.
