Y'all know I'm an old fogey already, but The Beatles played Christchurch while I was living there. Couldn't go, of course, we didn't have the money for such fripperies. I'm still pissed. Haven't been to many big concerts (I made an exception for Pink Floyd and I'm glad I did, when that spaceship flew in over the audience and crashed & burned onstage...wow!) much preferring small venues, like when Southside Johnny rocked a small theater in Poughkeepsie when I was working at Marist. Front row balcony seats at a small table where you could get drinks. Whatta horn section! Whatta show!
ETA: How could I forget John Prine at the Boulder Theater, a guy I've been wanting to see in concert for 30 years? Huge (legal) smile on my face for over two hours. My face hurt so much the next day. The guy is a national treasure. Now if I could just see Tom Waits I'd die a happy Duke.

Let's see...
Most memorable cause I'm obsessed: Weezer. I've seen them twice. THe last time was last month. I was front row center, Rivers smiled at me when I yelled at him, I got the set list, chatted with Brian. Pretty damn ridiculous.
Best live performance: Flaming Lips HANDS DOWN. The craziest shit I've ever seen.
Others who I'm not creative enough to get categories for: Tegan and Sara New Kids on the Block The Killers (oh god, Brandon Flowers.....) The Zutons The Raveonettes Aqualung TV on the Radio Something Corporate Acceptance MOdest Mouse Franz Ferdinand Howie Day Guster The fitness Coheed and Cambria Autolux Presidents of the USA Kasabian Long-View Kings of Leon Maroon 5 Coldplay
blah, so many more. I'm kind of a junkie.

Another Weezer fan, so my favorite concert would have to be the second leg of their Midget Tour when Jimmy Eat World and Tenacious D opened. They were doing this kick ass thing where they'd record a few songs from each show and post the MP3s on the Web site. My husband and I used one of them from that show as our entrance music at our wedding reception. Yes, I know Speaking of Weezer, is anyone else going to Lolapalooza? The stupid band isn't hitting my city, so I figured this would be a fun way to see them. I'm a little nervous, though, having never attended a big festival. This didn't sould quite so scary since its within a city rather than out in the middle of nowhere. You are officially the coolest person on this board!

It's nice to find another Weez fan. Yes I was at that leg of the Midget Tour too...Tenacious D was awesome. I'm not judging you for using their songs at your wedding because, well, "Private Message" is going to be played at my wedding....
ANYWAYS, back on topic... I just saw Aqualung, Hot Hot Heat, Stereophonics, and Kasabian this past week or two...all pretty damn good shows.

Anyone know if it's been shown on t.v. in Canada? All day on CTV It's also being streamed all day on aol. That's the best way to watch because you don't get all the commercials and bleeps from the cursewords. I'm watching Snoop Dog now, live in London, cussing his way through the songs. He's good.

Hey are you in Philly? I'm in Philly and I don't even want to leave my house. It's a mess in Center City, you would have to catch the bus everywhere. But I am enjoying it on aol. Will Smith is getting jiggy with it right now.
