Saw Muse last night. They are one of my favorite bands and I'd never had the chance to see them. Holy wow. I've always heard how incredible live they are but wow, they are just infuckingsanely good. Matt Bellamy is a on a whole other level from most front men and god can he wail. They had a really cool set in the round and lots of lights and digital projections and such to provide eye entertainment but they could've played in the dark and been just as good. Were there drones above the audience? Yeah, during the intro to the show and the first number, there were these orb covered drones that hovered around but only two of the ten or so they had worked the night we went. I read that the drones have been hit or miss during this tour due to technical issues.

The Bestie and I headed up to Oklahoma this weekend for a Pitbull Concert. I know he's not the worlds greatest rapper or singer by any stretch. But dang that man puts on a heck of a show. He gives a 110% as does his band and dancers; plus the production values are fantastic as well. It's funny to see how diverse a crowd he draws from the teens to little blue haired old ladies. He really is a little fireball. We danced thru the entire show and left absolutely hoarse.

I SAW THE CURE. I SAW THEM! IT WAS AMAZING! It was a great show--they played for 2 1/2 hours, and mixed known and deep-backlist songs. And the opening band was very good. And there were a lot of people there like me who were also having "I'm 14 again" feels. For various reasons I never got to see them when I was younger, but I got to see them! Robert Smith complained jokingly about the heat at least three times. I loved it.

That's awesome, cho! 40something me would be just as stoked as 15 year old me. Glad you got to go and glad it was such a good show! I rediscovered my love for Disintegration, Pornography, and Kiss Me 3 a couple of years ago and it's now become my mall walking music. Something about The Cure and mall walking just go hand in hand. If you haven't heard Blue Sunshine by The Glove, I highly recommend it if you're really into The Cure. It was a one album project for Robert Smith and someone from Siouxsie and The Banshees and I really like it, but I don't think it's for casual fans, which you don't seem to be.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I know this! I have Blue Sunshine on vinyl! It was Robert Smith and Severin from The Banshees! Punish me with kisses from Blue Sunshine

That's so awesome, cho! Robert Smith joking around -- I love it!
We saw the Indigo Girls at the Stone Pony (kinda famous, tiny venue). I've seen them 5 or 6 times and HGTV has seen them, like 20+ times, and this was by far the best show we've ever seen. It was very high energy and fun (despite the broken AC and the standing room only thing!) I think they must have really liked the intimacy of the place. It was so great.
(AND we're seeing Jason Mraz at the same place this week. Ahhh!)

Very cool, Mulva!
My worst roommate ever, Criz (her parents had named her Crystalynn), would shower, slap on Drakkar Noir cologne and sit in the shared living room, shirtless, crying and listening to the Indigo Girls. She had a monogamous girl friend outside the house, then started a relationship with one of the roommates. Then the two found out about each other. We also had a break in, in which the only thing stolen was a VHS tape (this was the early 90s, San Francisco) of Criz fisting herself and doing cartwheels (at the same time!) on top of a bar somewhere. The tape was hidden in a cowboy boot in the hall closet; the thief knew where to look.
Maybe someday in this lifetime I will separate my feelings about living with Criz from the Indigo Girls (and from Drakkar Noir) but not so far.

A few years ago I rummaged around online to check up on old San Francisco roomies. I found her, and my main thought was, "Huh, so...not dead." Not sure if she's seeing anyone, or several anyones, exclusively. She had a dog. I hope the dog is ok, but I actually think she would take care of a pet.

That description of Criz is the best thing I have read today. Belly laugh on I77 northbound!
I saw the Indigo girls in Cleveland back in the late 90s. It was an outdoor amphitheatre where the back of the stage is right at the edge of the Cuyahoga River.
Oddly, When we got to our seats, I noticed the drums were set up center stage, but at the front, facing the river. All the seats were behind the drummer. Then I noticed the entire stage was set up to face the water.
The band came on, and dutifully played the first song at the barge floating by. At the end of the song, Emily looks back at us, then at the barge, then at us again.
"What-is this a test?"
Then everyone but the drummer turned around and played the rest of the show to the audience.
I don't remember for sure, but it must have been a festival situation, and some genius must have thought everyone would park their boats on the river and watch from there?
If I haven't told my Indigo Girls roadie story, let me know if you want to hear it. One if the best stories EVER, though it hinges on possibly offensive language....
