Little late to the game here, but hey, you can think about it next year -
Say what you will about her other stuff, but Jewel's Christmas album is really good. I was at a Christmas party when the hostess put it on and everyone was all, "Hey, I really like this. Who is it? Jewel??? Are you kidding me?"
Girlfriend really does have a beautiful voice, she just needs to start writing better songs.

I know it's over, but I had to mention two of my favorite Christmas songs, Springsteen;s "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and Jose Feliciano's (?), "Feliz Navidad." Love 'em because they always make me smile!

Nooooooo!
ETA: When I worked at Cracker Barrel this summer they had already put their Christmas stuff up. Next to the Halloween stuff. Christmas stuff in AUGUST, people. And August in Florida no less---nothing says 'holidays' like an astronomical heat index and 80% humidity!

Topic: I love The Pogues' "Fairytale of New York." In fact, I think that was a recommendation in the Christmas music thread last year at the old place. AHHHH!!!!!! Thank you for this. I was just about to post "I remember a Christmas song having to do with NY and two drunk, angry people, does anyone know what that possibly could be?" I am downloading it on iTunes as I type this. It is one of the best Christmas songs EVER. And since my favorite Christmas movie is "A Christmas Story", and I loathe "It's a Wonderful Life", you can see why i would love this song!

The best! Christmas song! Evah! award goes to "Christmas in Hollis" by Run DMC. I smile every time I hear it.
The worst: A tie between "Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney (ha, I just typed my own, very similar last name instead of "McCartney," which makes me laugh because it pisses me off when people think that's my name) and "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses. So. bad.
I love U2's "Baby Please Come Home," and I think "Song for a Winter's Night" by Sarah McLachlan is a gorgeous winter tune. So very pretty, if not a little sad.
I feel your pain. Guilty pleasure favorite: "Last Christmas" by Wham!

I speaketh the truth. I love Paul more than the average bear, but that song just bites. The lyrics are oh-so bad. Or is it The Waitresses you're defending? Because I stand by my position on that song as well.
