I'm getting really annoyed with the direction of the Tonys. Showing Elton John instead of the dancers for Billy Elliott? Then they totally blew shooting the Shrek performance with random close-ups when they should have shot wide. I hope it improves in the upcoming performances.

That was a fantastic Tony's opening. I was dancing and singing around my living room. Academy Award producers take note.
Yeah - they should have had more close-ups of the boys that played Billy Elliot. I mean Elton John wrote the show, but still they are the stars of it.
Let the sunshine in...

You guys, how did I not know there was such a thing as Chess in Concert starring Adam Pascal, Idina Menzel and Josh Groban? And where was it when I was wracking my brain for my brother's birthday present? Now I'm getting it, copying it for my iPod, then giving it to him just because he's my favorite brother.

Saw Promises, Promises (LOVED IT) and A Little Night Music (Loved it not as much) over the weekend.
I'm hoping for a cast recording of PP, it was wonderful. Sean Hayes really deserves the Tony as does the actress in the featured role (her name escapes me!)--a definite star turn.

My friends and I have tickets for The Addams Family in June. I flove Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth but I really just want to go into the city for the day.

Just pulled out my Playbill-- Her name is Katie Finneran. She plays Marge--a drunk that Chuck picks up in one scene. Just fabulous. And how could I forget Tony Goldwyn....still sexy after all these years. We ran into some other tourists who saw Addams Family and they said it was a hoot. Apparently it had previewed in Chicago, got middling reviews, and was tweeked (successfully) for Broadway.

Has anyone seen Titanic? I have a chance to go see it at The Muny in St. Louis (the 2nd largest outdoor theater next to the one in Athens)/hometown pride. Just curious what anyone thought of it. I love the 3 movies based on the disaster and have done some research on it, so I'm curious how it goes.

forever1267, my parents saw a touring production years ago, and I remember they enjoyed it (and they're not theater people). I still remember seeing the opening number on the Rosie O'Donnell show in 3rd grade and getting chills, if that's any endorsement. I'm super late to the party on this one, but I saw Next to Normal recently and cried my face off. In a good way. Brian d'Arcy James (who, coincidentally, was in the original cast of Titanic!) is amazing.

I saw the touring company production of Titanic years ago. I don't remember much about it other than the fact that I really enjoyed it. I've heard Muny's productions are usually very good, so I think you'll like Titanic.
I want to encourage anyone & everyone to go see Million Dollar Quartet, either in Chicago or New York. The story isn't anything too deep, but the performances are fantastic. It's really fun.

I've seen two productions of Titanic and think it's one of the worst shows I've ever seen. And I've seen Cats three times. The music sucks, the characters are mostly forgettable (save for the stoker guy) and the scenes are cringe inducing. You couldn't pay me to ever sit through it again.
