My friend is really into a Joy Division cover band called......"Jah Division". They do dub/reggae covers of Joy Division. I know, I know, it sounds like it would suck, but it actually works better than you'd think. My favorite song of theirs is "Dub Will Tear Us Apart". I might just like it for its name though. Still, at the end of the day I like my Joy Division in its original synthed-out depresso-dance version.

Everything by Uncle Kracker is pointless. The cover of "Drift Away" makes me hate the original, too. Guh.

Nelly Furtado also does an acoustic version of Gnarls "Crazy". It's so very good. Regardless of if you hate her or not.

I was coming here to mention Dar Williams and Ani Difranco's version of "Comfortably Numb" but I see that it's already been mentioned. So I'll second it. LOVE it.
Also, I really like Bush's live version of Wild Horses. I may be in the minority on that one. And I can't get the good one to download for me! There are two versions of it out there, one (the easier to find one, of course) sounds like crap, and the other is awesome.

aidansmom, you're probably going to hate me, but I heard Bush play both "Wild Horses" and "Just What I Needed" when I saw them live. And....Gloria Estefan does "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me"? Erm. Wow. I'm not sure how I feel about that!

You're right. I do hate you . Only if what you heard sounded like the GOOD version. If it sounded like the bad version, I'm so very sorry.

Well, "Just What I Needed" was great, but I don't remember that much about "Wild Horses" because at that point my friends and I were trying to fend off a bunch of loud, fratty d-bags. These people were rough housing and body surfing during "Glycerine" for god's sake! Who does that?
On topic, I'd love to hear someone do a cover of "Glycerine". I know it's not cool to like Bush, but dammit, they were good! Ok, I"m taking this to the Upopular Music Opinion thread.

Dave Matthews Band- Long Black Veil, All Along the Watchtower, and The Maker.
Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees- Dear Prudence
Oh, and I have a really fun, kind of bluegrass version of Gin and Juice that I dl off of Limewire that was credited to the Barenaked Ladies, but a friend of mine told me it was a different band. Anyone know the scoop?
