Oh totally! It's just depressing! Really? I mean, it's sad and poignant and all that, but... kinda inspiringly beautiful, too. I recently found out it's based on a Native American (Navajo, I think) poem. I freakin' LOVE that song.

I'm pretty lame, I think.
"Puff the Magic Dragon" always gets me. It was my late stepfather's all-time favorite and was played at his funeral.
"My Buddy" by Chet Baker. Makes me think of my beloved doggy, who is in Heaven. I always used to say "hey, buddy," when I came home, so...
"Run for the Roses" by Dan Fogelberg, always makes me so sad. Poor horsies. (So what? Whaddaya wanna make of it?)

I find both Sarah McLachlan's "Good Enough" and India.Arie's "Ready For Love" incredibly sad. Both singers convey such sorrow in their voices.

U2's One moves me to tears.
Is it getting better, or do you feel the same? Will it make it easier on you, now you got someone to blame? You say one love, one life, when it's one need in the night. One love, we get to share it Leaves you baby if you don't care for it.
Did I disappoint you or leave a bad taste in your mouth? You act like you never had love and you want me to go without. Well, it's too late tonight to drag the past out into the light. We're one, but we're not the same. We get to carry each other, carry each other... one
Carrie Underwood's "Don't Forget To Remember Me" gets to me, too.

India.Arie's "Ready For Love" Katarina Witt skated to that a few years ago and it totally made my heart completely melt. It was especially sad because you knew that she chose the song to say that she knows she's getting older and she really doesn't have too much time left on the ice, and she's ready for a new love to help make up for that place in her heart that she'll have to leave on the ice... Oh fuck I'm about to cry right now... And speaking of Katarina the Great, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" deserves a place in this thread.

Jeff Buckley owns this thread! Lover You Should Have Come Over and Last Goodbye always make me tear up, especially the line: My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder Also, for all you Aussies, Flame Trees by Cold Chisel. Not that horrible new emo version but the original band number. Kids out driving Saturday afternoon pass me by I'm just savouring familiar sights We share some history, this town and I And I can't stop that long forgotten feeling of her Try to book a room to stay tonight
Number one is to find some friends to say "You're doing well After all this time you boys look just the same" Number two is the happy hour at one of two hotels Settle in to play "Do you remember so and so?" Number three is never say her nameThat last line really gets me. And then to take things down a notch, Estranged by Guns n' Roses is very sad and poignant ... until you remember that Axl wrote it for a woman (Erin Everly) that he was estranged from because he abused her.

Everybody's Changing by Keane. I never heard it until Lily Allen played it in concert, and I just downloaded it. It's so pretty, but it's making me so depressed.
