I pulled out my disco mixes the other day to warm up to before running...and I found myself breaking a move in my living room for a good 30 minutes before I even bothered to stretch out.
I HEART DISCO. I don't care what anyone says. I'd rather dance to hours and hours of disco than any of the crap that Justin Timberlake's sexxybacking these days. In fact, if I ever got married I considered an all-disco reception....except that I love new wave and '80s so very much.
I just made a disco playlist for my myspace. Good stuff.

I, ahem, "borrowed" my mom's Donna Summer Greatest Hits CD for quite some time. No idea where it is now though. Boo. Having only heard the shorter version, I didn't realize the full genius of Love to Love Ya Baby until Q described the full-length as "a 17 minute orgasm set to music." (or something) And, yeah, it is. It makes me want to hit Studio 54 so much and do key bumps with Halston. Camille Pagilia made a good list of disco songs on Salon that I'll try to find. The only problem is she says something about how she doesn't like to dance but "experiences" it like a shamanistic ritual.

I still love disco. The Disco Years is a good series to use as a benchmark if anyone's looking to create or add to a playlist. Discs 1-5 are great but they ran out of steam for the last two discs (6-7). There are no BeeGee tunes on these discs though.
I went to Studio 54 the night of my high school graduation, it must have been Bridge and Tunnel Night or something lol. I didn't see anyone famous but I had a great time dancing with my friends and all.
ETA: I couldn't get the link to work but you can find The Disco Years on Amazon.

The Pure Disco mixes are great too. I have some two-disc disco set I picked up at a used CD store several years ago. It was one of those put out by the '70s Preservation Society. Between that, Disc 3 of "The Disco Years," "Pure Disco 2," "Pure Funk" and the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack, I'm pretty well set.

Oh man, I fucking love disco. Especially the kind of bad disco that didn't know the seventies were over. The best.

Camille manages to suck the fun out of just about everything, doesn't she? I believe "experiences it" is code for "I can't dance for shit" (neither can I, but you'll never hear me say anything that goofy to cover my clumsiness).
I just put a '70s playlist on my mp3 player, and I'd say 90% of it is disco. I love it!

Ahhhh, love to love you baby!
Duran Duran covered "I Feel Love" last tour, and it freakin' rocked. That's one of my favorite songs ever. I adore disco!
