Never liked her, and I'm from the UK where she first became famous on TV. Never thought she was anything special in the talent OR looks department, she's the classic "I see hotter girls every day in the street" girl and Sarah Michelle Gellar could out act her without breaking a sweat.

And I tend to believe the bitch reports.

Edited to admit I haven't seen Chicago, but I'd still put money on Once More With Feeling being better.

I don't know much as I really didn't care but she became famous in a TV show called Darling Buds Of May playing the temptress daughter of a yokel family.

IRL she dated a TV presenter called John Leslie who later had a sleazey rape and drugs scandal and had a "Home Movie" of him videoing his then nurse girlfriend and another girl become public. The nurse, Abi Titmus, then dumped him and has become more famous while his career was ruined by the scandal.

A TV presenter wrote a book in which she claimed that another TV presenter had raped her years before on a date. She never said who it was, but it was an open secret and before long the name "John Leslie" was uttered in the media in connection with the story. Well, all hell broke loose then. The original woman was uncooperative with police and would never confirm the name or press any charges herself, but soon enough other women came out of the woodwork and started to press charges against him left right and centre.

The police only charged him on one woman's claim (the charge was assault), and pretty soon she dropped the charges and the police didn't pursue him any further.

CJZ kept shtum throughout the entire process, which was a fairly long time. She had dated him for a good while, about a year. Some people thought her not speaking up in his defence was strange, but actually I thought she was right not to get involved, if there was any way she could avoid it. For all we know he was creepy with her (there were rumours that he enjoyed "rough" sex and that was the reason some of the women might have felt degraded or assaulted afterwards) and she didn't want to get into a conversation about what he was like sexually with her.

Sounds like she dodged a bullet with the John Leslie scandal (although now I'm thinking maybe she's Adored Ava from the BI list...hee!!). But CZJ has always had strange taste in men - she dated the lead singer from Simply Red, Mick Hucknall, who has got to be one of the fugliest men alive. From him to Michael Douglas with nary a hottie in between. Maybe she doesn't like sex?

My understanding was that she sent John Leslie a bunch of flowers and a note of support when all the trouble started - which seemed pretty nice, given that it would have been easy to give in to the tabloid hysteria and ignore him. Who knows if it's true or not, though.

She is very odd about money. Remember when after her first baby she requested, in lieu of actual presents, gifts of cash that would be put into a trust fund for the child? Then there were, I think, law suits? Plus the t.v. ads, which she certainly doesn't need the money from.

Plus, there was an amusing story about her at an auction that I, at least, thought was rather endearing. I don't remember what item was up for bid, but it was something worth thousands. CZJ opened the bidding with something like $20! (I'm sure I don't have the exact numbers right, but you get the idea). She was suitably embarrassed to find out what a laughable amount it was to bid and said something self-deprecating like "Well, we Welsh are thrifty..."
