Au revoir, les enfants... entire French team suspended as punishment for their collective hissy fit at the World Cup. New coach Laurent Blanc will announce a replacement squad for upcoming friendlies. Karma..elle est une bitch, non? Poor Yoann Ah well, it'll give him more time with me I strongly suspect that Blanc's only doing this because it's a friendly, and the majority of the squad will be back for the first Euro qualifying match. I feel mean picking on a baby again for the second time in a few days, but Ruby Cole [/color] still hasn't grown into her looks.

Nice to see the Federation is continuing to sweep upper management decisions under the rug. The problems existed long before this particular national team, and will exist long after.

True, the FFF itself needs a clear-out, but I have to think this is a step in the right direction. A bunch of those players need to be booted permanently, not just for one game. I somehow doubt we will see Anelka, Gallas, and Evra in the blue shirt again anytime soon.
So many of the problems seemed to stem from Domenech being kept in charge for waaaay too long, but I think that again goes back to his buddies at the FFF keeping him in the job.
In other news, this is shaping up to be one of the most boring transfer summers ever!

I somehow doubt we will see Anelka, Gallas, and Evra in the blue shirt again anytime soon. The WC was likely the last national team appearance for these players, and many other alike, even before the blow up. The problem from the very beginning was that players' concerns and grievances were never listened to or taken seriously. The Anelka blowup and team walkoff thereafter were the crescendo of a long conflict. Removing the players you named will do nothing to change the dynamics within the NT, so long as everything else remains the same. Without the strong personalities of Zidane, Thuram, Makele (all since gone) to pull the team together in spite of these limitations, the team was doomed from the start. Anyway, the season can't start soon enough. Essien is back, Barcelona is again has me concerned, and can the TSO do it again? I'm excited!

Actually Laurent Blanc is known for his no bullshit stance, so I don't think this is just for show. I know it's a worthless friendly, but he is letting it be known that the stuff that happened under Domenech won't be happening again any time soon. As far as I am concerned, it's time for France, Italy, England, et al to do what Germany did and start giving their younger players a chance.
Although in some ways Germany had no choice due to injuries; but Loew also cut troublemakers off the squad.

I swear if he'd been in there ya just can't help but wonder if Ghana might have made the semis... 2) What are your specific concerns about Barca? 3) I hope not! Most of the time I'd rather than watch the not-so-special style of football that Mourinho favours!

2) What are your specific concerns about Barca? The instability and strained relationships from top to bottom, (the Roswell election, Pep sticking to his one year contract renewal, the tenuous relationship between Pep and the club, and missing set pieces). Not to mention I still think the club is suffering from the whole Ibrahimović deal/Eto'o loss. They'll be lucky to unload him, in addition to taking a $30-40 million loss. ETA: Although the "parking the bus" style of play is not my preference, I do rather like Mourinho. If, for nothing more than his time with Chelsea, and the never ending soap opera between him and Abramovich (another character in his own right). Good times.

Whoa boy was that ever a bad deal for Barca! I don't think Eto'o was happy at Barca, so that move away seemed kind of inevitable, but Ibrahimovic has been such a complete and total dud! Some of the misses he had last season were just astounding. Ibra's gotta be up there with Shevchenko and Berbatov in a top 10 list of recent transfer duds.
