Are we allowed to talk about all soccer/football leagues here, or just the American league?

Talk about all pro stuff here. There's an "Amateur Sports" section to talk about non-pro stuff.

Oh, I meant pro stuff, but other leagues outside of the US. I didn't explain myself very well.
Anyway, I'll start off by saying I love Beckham, always have, but I think he's committed career suicide by going to LA Galaxy. Any thoughts?

Anyway, I'll start off by saying I love Beckham, always have, but I think he's committed career suicide by going to LA Galaxy. Any thoughts? From what we have seen so far, I am inclined to agree with you. I know that the Galaxy paid a ridiculous amount of money to DB to come to the US (not that Real Madrid wanted him anymore, anyway), but let's face it, in the football/soccer world, I know I don't exactly consider the MLS a top league, especially when considered again the Premier, La Liga, Serie A, etc. Even though Real Madrid wasn't going to renew his contract, I think Beckham could have gone elsewhere within the European leagues, especially given his assists record. Nothing against American players, etc, you understand, and I know that the US team (comprised mainly of MLS players) were able to make it to the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup. But for some reason, soccer has never really captured the imagination of the nation. Even Pele coming to America couldn't do it. One sports writer has theorized this general ambivalence is due to the fact that Americans, used to soundbites in all areas of life, simply don't have the attention and patience to sit and watch straight action for 90 minutes when there are quarters or half-times or other definable periods where the game halts long enough for the spectators to hit the bathroom and the beer lines. Generalization? Sure, but a nugget of truth in there, somewhere. This whole proposed "SuperLiga" idea (US and Canadian teams squaring off against Mexican teams to establish regional dominance) can't even seem to find an Ennglish-language broadcaster. The irony that Beckham's injuries are sidelining him right at the time when he is supposed to be the big catch for the MLS just seems to further underscore this whole thing. On a brighter note, I love me some Cannavaro. I don't care if he's a thug. He's so pretty. P.S. I am a Newcastle supporter from way back. Any others here? I still miss Shearer.

I wasn't a Newcastle superfan but I will say one of the highlights of ever was watching the DC United-Newcastle game in RFK stadium about a million years ago. And I am totally a DC United superfan, by way of introduction.

I was ridiculously happy when my cable company started showing the Fox Soccer Channel! Now I can watch soccer 24/7 if I want to. I am really new to all the UK teams, so I have no alliances there.
I love the World Cup and watch it every time it comes around. I was totally rooting for Italy in the last one.
(And they have a news show, which is probably popular in the UK, that show clips of Cricket! I'm fascinated by that sport/off Topic)

I'll get in early then and help you out - Man Utd are the best. Not that I'm trying to sway you or anything

It is driving me BONKERS that so few of the UEFA qualifying matches are on FSC, and mostly the crappy ones at that. France vs Faroe Islands? Oh wow, that was entertaining. I know it must be expensive but COME ON. Argh.
4 channels of a sport I have zero interest in (American Football), and the only international soccer is Faroe fucking Islands? I have to watch on live feeds on the internet with commentators in languages I don't speak. It's infuriating.
*No offense to the Faroese.
