The only thing I remember is that Rijkaard stepped down as coach.

Eek! The US played FABULOUS against Argentina. Actually looked like a competitor on the world stage. Seriously, this was a totally different team than the one that lost to England and Spain. It was awesome!
...and then the ref red carded Pablo Mastroeni for no apparent reason.
And the US continued to BRING it with one man down.
0-0, but best game I've ever seen the US play. They played like they did against Italy in the WC (minus the own goal).

So Euro 2008 started this weekend and the poor Swiss lost their first home match. Not a good beginning.
Now the Dutch...I was pretty much convinced we'd lose against the Azurris, but my god they managed to surprise me with their victory. Who'd guess that? 3-0? Wow.

When does my favorite European soccer squad France play next? I thought they outplayed Romania, but they couldn't score. It didn't help that Thierry Henry and Zidane didn't play.

Friday the 13th. And Les Blueus are playing against my home team, the Dutch. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure.

Double posting because no one posted after me.
OMG. What the hell!? Since when is the Dutch team in such top form? They crushed the Azurris and now they've also crushed Les Blueus by 4-1! I'm just amazed by it all.

I've been watching and the Dutch have been really impressive. I love it when one of the unexpected teams surprises like this. I hope they keep it up, it'll be a fabulous tournament if they do.

I'd like to see a rematch between them after their red card-elicious world cup game.

I'd like to see a rematch between them after their red card-elicious world cup game. With the exception of 1988, the Dutch have never played up to their potential. They should win it all, but then again as Greece proved four years ago, it doesn't turn out that way. If there's a sleeper, watch for Turkey. They were impressive today against the Czech Republic.

Turkey played like a team possessed...but they lost their keeper. Is their back up keeper decent?
