From way back, as sad as I am for Germany, I was happy that Spain won. If nothing else the team is hot IMO - I could look at Iker Casillas and Fernando Torres all day.

Only saw bits and pieces. Did see how Italy got beat by Egypt!
Also a lot of people are annoyed by those horns a lot of the fans have gotten. It sure gives it a distinct sound when you're not paying attention and someone else is watching the match.

I've lost track of the various cups and qualifiers...all I know is Team USA (men) still have a ways to go to play with the big boys, after watching them get whooped by Costa Rica and Italy.
ETA: So USA beat Egypt by a large enough margin and Brazil beat Italy by a wide enough margin and USA advances. It figures they'd show up to play the game I didn't watch.

Those horns are annoying us to tears. I hope FIFA bans them for World Cup but I'm sure they won't.
The US is doing rather well but face Spain next, which means Adios Americanos. Spain's the only team to not give up a goal and I'm hoping they go the distance in this tournament and next year's finals. They are really tearing things up consistently and tightly, playing amazing defense with a really aggressive offense. Plus the team is super hot. (What? That counts!)

I am happy for the US team and their supporters but I am simply gutted for Spain. I really wanted them to go the distance.

Wow! What a win! I'm watching the rerun on ESPN2 (I missed the game due to class). You know it's a big deal when the BBC puts it on the front of its Sport page. Altidore's goal in the 25th minute was a thing of beauty. Tim Howard was awesome in goal. I always thought Spain was a paper tiger despite their European Championship. Plus, they had slight competition in their draw. I mean, New Zealand?

Holy Freaking Cow! That was a different team from the one I watched play Costa Rica and Italy. I hope that team shows up for the final.

Poor USA! They played a great first half of the game, unfortunately it was men against boys in the second half. Not enough depth and Brazil was just too strong in the end.
