At last a thread on Professional Wrestling! My dad watches wrestling, and it was something that me and him could do together. I've been a fan for as long as I can remember. I've been to more live shows than I can count, although none recently. Heck, my son is named after Stone Cold Steve Austin (just Austin).
I love looking up wrestlers on Wikipedia, although so many are dead now. Bam Bam, Earthquake, Yokozuna, British Bulldog, the list goes on and on. It really breaks my heart since their is that whole "super hero" factor to them. I remember when Owen Hart died, and just sobbing uncontrollably, not so much for Owen, but to see wrestlers like the Undertaker lose it because they're not supposed to break character like that. I love the old wrestlers, but since Benoit's murder/suicide I just can't watch it because I watch it thinking "Which one is next?" and that's no fun.
I really love watching "Hogan Knows Best" though. The Hulkster will always be a father figure to me.

shybaby420, that's such a cute doggie! The wrestler that I grew up loving was Bret Hart. Dude was my hero back in the day and I still have some love for him, even though I have finally acknowledged to myself that he is sometimes a bit too full of himself. I also liked Triple H for a while there, before latching on to Jericho as my favorite. He was the last of my favorites. Flair was still wrestling as of this year and, yeah, dude looked old to me back in the day, let alone now. He's almost 60. Sting is also still wrestling, except with TNA. He was one of the wrestlers I wish had been signed by WWE back during the invasion angle, because they needed someone like that to make it work. Although, God only knows how they would have managed to screw it up even with having Sting around - probably job him to the WWE superstars. Pfft. Ang, I remember that picture! And I still say that the Undertaker looks like he walked off the Sopranos set with that [velvet?!] sweatshirt. Oh man, that's how I felt when I saw Triple H's segment on Raw Is Owen. Mark Henry was the other one that really made me lose it, but it didn't really jolt me out of it like Triple H's did since Henry seemed sweet enough. Owen seemed like such a great guy.

May I ask how The Undertaker broke character? I never saw that PPV event. I apologize if this is a sensitive question.

It was the RAW after the tragedy happened and they had all the wrestlers give taped segments about how they knew Owen, what memories they had of him, and the Taker did one and he just had his head down talking about him. It was so sad. Until that night, I had never seen the Undertaker be anything other than the UNDERTAKER! and to see him so fragile just broke my heart. These huge men were standing there with tears running down their faces while they rang the bell ten times. I have a hard time watching men cry, let alone my hero's.

The Fabulous Moolah passed away. Very sad indeed. She lived a good long life and seemed to have fun all the time, so its not another wrestling tragedy, but Im still shocked. I guess the fact that she looked 103 years old made me feel she'd live forever. RIP Moolah, you were one hell of a kickass lady.

Aw. RIP, Fabulous Moolah.
She did have an awesome career and still looked like she could probably kick some asses late into her life. There's nothing like a granny that could smack the face right off of someone.

I am so sorry to hear The Fabulous Moolah has passed. What an amazing career she had.
I don't watch wrestling anymore, but growing up in the 70's & 80's in Miami, my Grandfather (who was a diehard fan) would take me to the Miami Beach Conv. Ctr to see all the Florida Championship wrestling matches. Those were the days when Gordon Solie was the announcer and for $ 7.00 you could see all the greats and usually get autographs. I met Dusty Rhodes, Barry Windham, Kevin Sullivan, David Von Erich and all of those guys many many times. We would also watch them on Georgia Championship Wrestling as well and boy did I have a huge crush on Tommy Wildfire Rich. Never got to meet him though.
I gave up on wrestling right after WCW disbanded as it just got too silly for me. Guess I am an oldtimer who prefers the old days.

Here is a shot of the new WWE magazine, taken from another board - he's keeping his fabulous fashion sense! He's coming back next week, apparently.

Not the waistcoat!
And WHOO, pro-w thread! Not that I don't usually spend at least a portion of the day on NZ's foremost wrestling forum, but hey.
I was chortling at Randy Orton's advice column when I picked up my sea-shipped to the newstand WWE magazine today. The idea just makes me laugh. Randy's so very very evil and very very hot.
Ken Kennedy is utter fabulousness, he needs more to work with on Raw, though. I've only just started watching SmackDown! again after a month or so, now that Edge is back it'll be far more entertaining.
For the first time ever I've really gone off The Undertaker with his marriage breaking up. I know everyone has their personal lives, but I respected that marriage a heck of a lot.
