My guess is drugs (she's long been rumored to use coke and heroin, and the stories about her in recent years make me think she might have been tweaking, too) but an eating disorder could bring on cardiac arrest -- it's what killed Karen Carpenter.

She and I are the same age. The first thing that MrB said was drugs, but she was painfully skinny.

Whatever the cause, rest in peace.

This is so sad. I feel terrible for her mother, who discovered the body. Brittany always mentioned in interviews that she had a close relationship with her and she supported her when she had breast cancer.

Aw. I'm going to hell, because my first thought was, "I can't believe THAT Brittany went before the other Britney."

RIP. She was adorable in "Clueless" and amazing in "Girl, Interrupted."
