And World's ended today, with the American women living up to their very high expectations! Biles took home gold in Vault, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise to add to her All-Around gold. Sunisa Lee recovered well to get silver on Floor and bronze on Uneven Bars after a rough time in the All-Around finals. Jade Carey took silver on vault. For those of you following along, Simone took home gold on 4 out of 5 individual events - it's the most dominant performance from someone who's been spectacularly dominant her entire career - along with team gold. Along the way, she beat the records for most world's medals in women's gymnastics, most world's medals in gymnastics overall (Men & Women, a real challenge for women when the men have two more individual events to earn potential medals in), and most balance beam titles.

Editing to add that Biles also holds the records for most world's gold medals at 19(!!!).

She's amazing.

I watched the team finals, and was so happy Italy won bronze over China. However, on a petty note, I thought their leotards were hideous.

Anybody watching US Championships?

Simone continues to be Simone. The Yurchenko Double Pike is a sight to behold, I love how at the Classic when she completed it a few of the judges started clapping. I know they're not supposed to do that, but, c'mon. It's Simone. And I love her attitude in the face of what is likely going to be another insultingly low difficulty rating by the FIG. She's basically like, "Yeah, they don't want me to get the points I deserve, probably because they're racist.* I'm going to do it anyway. Go big or go home."

Jade Carey is also not messing around. She's training a triple-double-layout on floor. The landing looked scary and we'll see if she does it in competition, but still, it was super cool to see. Even Simone has never done that. She has her ticket to the Olympics in vault and she's still gunning for an All-Around spot.

I'm so happy for Chellsie Memmel. She probably won't make the Olympic team but she'll get an invite to Trials. 32 and a mom of two, and still throwing Amanars.

And finally, I'm a big Morgan Hurd fan, and I hope she can pull herself together. I'd love to see her make the Olympic team.

...and finally finally, I don't know as much about the men, but my husband and I were arguing about which men's apparatus we think looks the hardest last night. I think it's rings. He thinks it's pommel horse. Gymnast guys have to be the fittest athletes on the planet, those guys were absolutely jacked. They also must all need shoulder replacements by the time they're 40.
