I'd like to see the dress without the veil and the coat. The veil is just way too much for me.

If it was white and not sheer that could be a 1920s wedding dress.
ETA At least the veil helps hide the blonde hair that still doesn't suit her.

My word association: John Galliano ... antisemitic ... Nazis ... bear witness (Yad Vashem) ... "witness" on the veil ... what is happening here?

I loathe that toad Galliano on principle so I hate the dress, but I'd hate it even if it wasn't his.

For some reason "robot" popped into my head when I saw the close up. The bit in the front reminds me of R2D2's buttons. I know the Met Gala is supposed to be costumy but the veil needs to GO.

Katy Perry is getting grief over wearing John Galliano, but Amal Clooney gets away with it. Perhaps because Amal doesn't have social media accounts on which people can express their opinions about her.
I don't know where I stand on John Galliano these days because I haven't heard him remark upon the incident that got him fired from Dior. At the time, it sounded like he was falling down drunk and saying provocative things in order to wind people up in a bar; It didn't necessarily sound like an expression of his beliefs. It could be that he has gotten sober and made efforts to redeem himself - but if he has, I haven't heard about it. I only know that he went to rehab and Anna Wintour helped him reestablish his fashion career.

He was caught making anti-Semitic remarks in three separate incidents. That doesn't sound like "I'm drunk and winding people up in a bar." Especially comments like “People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f**king gassed.” (direct quote)
He claims he's not an anti-Semite or a bigot, but he chose to open his mouth and let the words come out. I don't care if he was drunk or high. He said what he said and he's responsible for the fallout he got.
I didn't know Amal Clooney wore him, but I don't think much of her, either.

He was caught making anti-Semitic remarks in three separate incidents. That doesn't sound like "I'm drunk and winding people up in a bar." Especially comments like “People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f**king gassed.” (direct quote) I think there were two incidents, three people total, all in the same bar. And he had to pay them each a symbolic Euro in damages. IIRC, him getting drunk in this bar and mouthing off and starting fights with people was something that happened repeatedly, and Jews was a popular topic for him because the bar is in a very Jewish neighborhood and has a lot of Jewish patrons. I was going to say that I would like to hear whether he's remorseful and what he has to say for himself now that he's sober, but I just Googled it. He chalks everything up to his alcoholism and now he has gotten involved in a synagogue in London and speaks at Jewish events with a rabbi. I suppose there is no way of knowing whether it's genuine or whether it's for the sake of his career, but I do think it's something that can be forgiven if there is genuine remorse and change. Mel Gibson I don't forgive because his anti-semitism was expressed in a lot of different ways - not just drunken rants, but in his film, and in how he discussed the holocaust using denier language. I think his anti-semitism was very clearly a deeply held belief. And then last I heard he was complaining about how everybody won't let it go. So yeah, no forgiveness for Mel, but Galliano might deserve another chance.
