Maybe they are having the wedding early, and we are supposed to suspend disbelief and pretend that it's August 23rd so that Liz will have time to get knocked up before the strip ends.

Count me in as someone who's confused about the timeline here. August 23rd is nearly three weeks away. Who has a rehearsal dinner three weeks before the event?
Has anybody in the strip mentioned who's catering this wedding? I'd get a laugh out of Elly doing the cooking and the bride and groom having his n' her heart attacks on their wedding night after dining on dishes such as triple-cheeseburger casserole with bacon and mayo on top.

Who on earth is that shadowy shape standing over Lawrence's shoulder in the fourth panel? I'm guessing it is supposed to be Mike, even though the silhouette's hair doesn't match Mike's Breck Girl 'do, and he magically moves from Lawrence's left to his right in the space of a breath.

What flowers are they talking about? The only thing I see is some tall trees and what looks like a shrubbery.
Teal is such an old lady color. Can't Elizabeth even have an age-appropriate color scheme?

I think someone put it best at Foobiverse that it's going to be great watching the battle of the silhouettes vs. the mutants at the wedding since the drawing in the strip has gotten worse and worse. Maybe if LJ didn't get her arms out of their socket so much trying to pat her own back like with today's final panel, maybe her drawing would be better.

I don't think this is the rehearsal dinner. I think it's the real thing. Otherwise, why the tacky tuxes?

Yeah, there's *only* three weeks left to cover the Wedding of the Century; Lynn can't waste strip space on the rehearsal dinner. I wonder if we're going to get a series of one-offs like the Lawrence one today, so that all the characters in the foobiverse get their grand finale appearance. That would explain why three weeks are needed, and a wedding is a good opportunity for Lynn to have a reason for all these people to suddenly appear at the Patterson's.
That said, why is John wearing a teal cummerbund and tie? Aren't the coloured tux accessories for the groomsmen? Shouldn't the bride's father be in basic black/white? I guess that explains why Anthony's uncle is letting them have the tuxes free - they've been collecting dust in his storage room since 1981. I don't think Lynn has been to a wedding in 20 years or she'd know that the matchy-matchy bow tie/cummerbund thing is passe.
I wonder how many of Lynn's faithful readers will be disgusted that she dragged up "that gay issue" again. Will any papers refuse to print today's strip?

Oh, this is all just too snarkalicious! There actually are flowers: they're teal and gray! They can be seen in the first, second and last frames. There's also an arch of teal and gray "flowers" in the background. They're probably plastic! Hope someone has dusted them off, as they've probably been stored in a basement somewhere since they were last used for a 50th wedding anniversary in 1979! And we've completely bypassed the rehearsal dinner, although the recent strips led us to believe we would be seeing it. Confused and confusing. Was anyone else kinda squicked-out by April's helping her father dress? And how the hell does she know more than he does about cummerbunds? And where is the wedding being held? Please, oh please, let it not be in the TinyTrainHouse backyard! The Shaggy Doormat will have to push Grampa's wheelchair through the grass (she's close to eclipsing Elly for martyr points!)

In spite of the hideous flowers, I have to (grudgingly) applaud Lynn for sliding a gay marriage endorsement in there - especially given how much of her fanbase is made up of "family values" types.

Sort of a backhanded endorsement, though. "It's great that we are ALLOWED to get married, just don't worry that we might actually, y'know, DO it."
Just like it is OK to have a gay character in your sitcom or movie, just so long as there is no hint that they ever, y'know, have sex.
