There's quite a few articles and blogs on Bat Man's white privilege super power. If you feel up to googling them, they'll probably give you a better understanding of that particular outlook than my post did. I have read those articles. The question: is it his whiteness or his wealth that is his privilege? Agreed with the other poster that's it's both. I guess the idea of a rich, white guy saying, "Ugh, the country is going to shit, the city's full of criminals and the government is corrupt. Let me stock up on guns and weapons and take matters into my own hands," is kind of disturbing lately. Full disclosure, I haven't really followed the actual comic Bat Man that much, but from what I get of it, he definitely makes me think of some ugly people. |
