We're told Selena's decision was largely based on "that crazy boy" -- aka Bieber. Selena blames a lot of her problems on the excesses she was exposed to by being around Bieber and his buddies.

Sources close to Gomez tell us ... people in Selena's camp went ballistic when they found out she was hanging out again with Justin ... and saw photos of her joyriding with him on Segways. We're told that was the final straw -- she checked into rehab immediately after that.

Can Selena loan her "camp" to Justin so they will go ballistic and force him to take care of himself too? It seems like these young celebrities are like little Beaver Cleavers. If they have a Wally camp, they will be okay. If they have an Eddie Haskell camp, they're fucked.

There have also been a lot of stories out there lately that she is a pretty heavy drinker/partier and that her team wanted her to spend more time in rehab. Whether it's a full-on issue or preventative work, who knows. But that could be part of it, too.
