I'd say Nay, though at the end, when he joined up with The Traveler (wasn't that what he was called?), he became somewhat more interesting. Of course, it may be that I was always too old for him. Heh.

Wesley was always sort of off my radar. The show premiered when I was in sixth or seventh grade so I thought it was cool to see someone young on the show, but my focus was primarily on Picard and Data. I guess I was mostly positive since I still had love for Wil Wheaton because of Stand By Me.
But when I catch episodes now on Sci-Fi and whatnot...man. Wesley did kinda suck. And it wasn't really WW's fault - the writing was terrible. Remember that episode where Wesley, like, didn't keep off the grass so the aliens were going to send him to the chair or something like that? That was a truly terrible episode.

So what is the consensus on Wesley Crusher? Yay or nay? I personally had a big honkin' crush on him, but what can I say, I was in the 9th grade. I am big TNG fan, and think that "Best of Both Worlds" is some of the best television I have ever watched. The Borg kicks ass, yo. We might be the same person. I loved Wesley from the beginning to the end, and I hated the stupid way they wrote him off the show. Trippy Native Americans! I mean, really.

I was a DS9 fangirl. Kira, Odo, and Dax all the way, baby. I was sad when Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax) left, but IK grew to like Ezri.
And Rene Auberjonois (Odo) was one of the BEST actors any of the Treks ever had.
Give me DS9 over nicey-nice TNG any day.

I would say Kira Nerys is my favourite Star Trek character of all time of any series. What incredible development and change she had over the years and Nana Visitor just knocked it out of the park time and time again.
Not to mention that it also gave us the uber-hot Intendant Kira as a bonus, even if the Mirror Universe eps became increasingly ludicrous.

Big ol' NAY to Wesley Crusher. At the time, it was cool that Wil Wheaton was on the show, not too long after Stand By Me, but the character just bugged me. Looking back, I think it was jealousy on my part, as Wheaton is the same age as me and I wanted to be on that ship. In retrospect, Wesley wasn't too bad, but really what the hell was he doing on the bridge? He wasn't (officially) Starfleet and the Enterprise-D was the Federation flagship! Remember that episode where Wesley, like, didn't keep off the grass so the aliens were going to send him to the chair or something like that? That was a truly terrible episode. Of course it was terrible; it was Season 1. Atreides, nice episode title shout-out. Now, if we're talking favorite characters, I have to say I have more than one. Picard: So, so sexy and commanding, articulate, and intelligent. Archer: Also sexy and commanding, but dashing and clever as well. Janeway: She does not take shit from anybody. T'Pol: Beautiful, the NX-01's voice of reason, and it was nice that they somewhat explored Vulcan culture through her character. I was recently watching Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and happened to notice that when they show Valeris (Kim Cattrall) flipping switches on the console, she has sausage fingers, and/or dead fish for hands. Either way, not attractive.

I thought that we had already established that we are the same person based on our musical tastes. If we are talking about movies, we have to discuss "The Wrath of Khan". Such an awesome movie. My friends and I watched it in college and then used to call each other's answering machines up and yell, "KHAAANNNNNNN!!!!!" I could not help but bust out a mini, "Khan!" when Ricardo Montalban passed away a few weeks ago.

All good points. I mean, what made Picard think, "You know what? I think I'll let the teenager drive the ship. Especially when just having him on the bridge in general might not make the best impression on our visitors and I'm sure all my crew members who would love to have a position on the bridge aren't at all pissed off about that!"?
And I had forgotten that the "Wesley Walked on the Grass and Therefore Must Die" episode was the first season because I didn't go far enough in my head to get to Riker when I was envisioning the episode -- no beard. No beard = terrible episode. I only vaguely remembered him being quite happy with the way everyone on the planet ran every where. In their underwear.
