What's with all the Crusher hate, yo? Beverly was HOT! And a local girl to boot.
Oh,wait, you're talking about Wesley. TNG Wesley, not so much. Buffy/Angel Wesley, kinda funny.

So what is the consensus on Wesley Crusher? Yay or nay? I personally had a big honkin' crush on him, but what can I say, I was in the 9th grade. I am big TNG fan, and think that "Best of Both Worlds" is some of the best television I have ever watched. The Borg kicks ass, yo. We might be the same person. I loved Wesley from the beginning to the end, and I hated the stupid way they wrote him off the show. Trippy Native Americans! I mean, really. And how weird was it that he goes off travelling the galaxy with The Traveler only to return to Starfleet to become a rank and file officer again? You'd think his horizons had expanded.

The only series in the franchise I really like is TNG. I know I should like DS9, as it's allegedly the most original concept in the Trekverse, but I never could get into it. Voyager was unwatchably bad for me, and I watched just bits and pieces of Enterprise (solely for comic relief).
I have a lot of unpopular opinions about Trek stuff: I'm a Pulaski fan for one, can't stand either Crusher, think both Kirk and Spock are overrated and that Janeway (what little I saw of her) was the best captain. Also, the main reason I couldn't watch Enterprise wasn't the derivative plotlines or the bad writing or the T'Pol-As-Crackwhore episodes, it was Trip. Trip sucked. Wost XO ever. EVER. I'd even rank Chakotay as more palatable/less of a jerkoff.

Retroactively, I want to like Wesley Crusher because of how cool Wil Wheaton has turned out to be as a grown-up (I think he's running a very close race with Neil Patrick Harris in the "how to leverage nerdy child star status into adult awesomeness" race). But... no. At best, I can tolerate Wesley's presence in an episode. I don't blame Wil Wheaton because there is pretty much no actor who could sell me on the idea of Dr. Crusher's teenaged kid saving an entire ship full of trained professionals. Actually, I did like the episode where Wesley's cadet group got busted for a cover-up. That was an interesting direction to take the character in, but it didn't seem to last. As for Dr. Crusher herself... I like her primarily because Patrick Stewart always seemed to say "Beverly" in like, the most sexful voice possible. Also as far as kid characters go, it does kind of blow my mind that the same franchise that produced Wesley Crusher could also produce Jake Sisko. To be sure, Jake had his annoying moments but overall, it seemed like the Star Trek people learned what not to do with a child character. There are actually Jake-centric episodes that are among my favorite in the series: "The Visitor," which completely made me cry, and the episode where Jake goes off to cover a war zone as a reporter and has a meltdown when he discovers he can't handle the heat of battle. And Dr. Bashir, of all people, is the one who has to slap some hard-headed battle sense into him. I really liked that episode more than I expected to - I wish Cirroc Lofton would get more work as an adult because he definitely had the talent as a kid.

Oh. Somebody remind me what Trip did (besides act like a dick)?

Smilla, he was the NX-01's engineer. True, he could be rash at times, but I dug that he and T'Pol got it on.

T'Pol was XO? I thought she was SOCO (Sprayed-On-Costume-Officer). Not that I'm complaining . . .
