Yeah, I agree, Wol - it was more nutcase LA-style justice, or rather "justice" in this case so in a way, his running made some sense since he was privy to their actions at the time. He should have taken some time in exile to speak loudly and forcibly about what they did - but so far as I remember, he never did.
I might be more forgiving if he were maybe have paid some debt to this society or maybe have shown some remorse for his actions. The best that can be said of the whole situation is that the victim has moved on and could care less about what he does with his life as she's gone on with hers.

Polanski is not some innocent man who was railroaded - he did commit rape, that's the one thing we know about this case for sure. I have no sympathy for him. His victim has had to relive the whole thing over and over again, every time the story gets dragged up by the media.

Its clear he is not going to come back and serve his time, so I can understand why she has come out and said she forgives him. If she comes out against him its only going to create more press for her. If I were her, I would want it to all go away too. I cant imagine being the victim in such a high profile case.

He is like Woody Allen for me. He makes my skin crawl all over the place and I think he is a reprehensible human being. But, God help me, I love Chinatown.

He is a classic case of trying to separate the art from the artist. There are talented individuals, who you would never want to make aquaintance with. Polanski has some good films, but as a person he will always be to me a vile, cowardly creep. He should just be a man and face up to his crime. It's not like he would be housed in the general population, if he did time. Shame about that.

I remember reading a story about him in one of Janice Dickinson's books. She went out on a date with him back when she was just starting out in the modeling biz. He turned out to be a uncommunicative creep and he expected to have sex with her that evening. She hated him.

Kind of like when I'm jamming out to "Human Nature" by CEMJ.

See, this is why I like you guys. Anywhere else if I admitted that while I may be disgusted by the artist but still love the art when it comes to both Polanski & CMJ, I would be flamed, harrassed and inevitably banned. I am so glad we can have reasonable discussions and still have fun. Kudos to Greecies. We fucking rock! And now I will head off to watch Chinatown & listen to Rock With You.

The only CEMJ song that is difficult to listen to is "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" because of the creepy spoken intro. I can't help but wonder if he uttered those words to a child.... So I fast forward through that, because that song's a jam. Topic? I've never seen a Roman Polanski movie. Isn't he the one that was married to Sharon Tate when all of that went down?
