*pops up* Hello, who have we here? Ah, Mrs. Miller. We used to play her at closing time at the music store to "encourage" customers to leave. Her version of "There Goes My Everything" is not for the faint of heart.

Her version of "There Goes My Everything" is not for the faint of heart. I had to fight really hard (like really hard) not to pee my pants during those nights.

*poof!* Blowing the dust off this old thread, for those of us singing the praises of Dr. Demento and Tom Lehrer in the House and Home thread.
Tom Lehrer will be 93 on April 9th, and he's still kicking around in Santa Cruz, CA. Coincidentally, so is one of my favorite authors, Laurie R. King. Must be something in the water there.... Anyway, most of Lehrer's performances consisted of himself and his piano, but he got together with Richard Hayman, the Boston Pops' arranger, and released orchestral versions of four songs, "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park", "Masochism Tango", "The Hunting Song", and "We Will All Go Together When We Go". Trying to find a link for the last one; I'll post it when I do.

Someone told me that there was or was going to be a documentary on The Shaggs, I just had a quick rummage around and it looks like author Jon Ronson (The Psychopath Test, Men Who Stare at Goats) interviewed them for the BBC. A quick look didn't turn up a working link. Fyi, for those who are into that sort of thing.

I remember reading something about this a few years ago, but I think Tom Cruise was going to produce it. So it may have died on the vine.
