We have had many a dressing room argument over the merits of the Shaggs. God help me, I have listened to My Pal Foot Foot enough times to actually develop affection for it.
ETA: OMG! I just clicked the link for Foot Foot (Foot Foot!), and the first comment is someone saying they want Rick Beato to do a What Makes This Song Great video about it. I. Am. Dead!

I couldn’t. No station had him back in the day. I had friends who lived in DC, and heard about him from them.
I refused to accept there was a song about fish heads, so they taped a show to prove it to me.

One of those DC friends now lives in LA, and via music connections, is friends with Billy Mumy, original Trump impressionist, Will Robinson himself, and of course, one half if Barnes and Barnes.
Eat them up, yum.
ETA: These friends are the same ones whose dad wouldn’t loan me the Lehrer record to take to my Catholic grade school, lest the nuns be offended by The Vatican Rag. Our musical weirdness started EARLY.

Doug and the Slugs.
I loved Doug and the Slugs. Makin it Work.
Doug had this bluesy wet smacky sound. It reminded me of John Popper of the Blues Traveler.
And of course, Dog Police. My kids all start singing “Dog Police....where are you coming from?
Dog police, nobody knows who you are...
Ruff ruff ruff ruf” at odd times.

This is my go-to song when the students (middle and high school) are in the blah stages of spring. It never fails to make them question everything they believed about older generations. ;D |

Season 23 of The Amazing Race had a fish heads challenge. They didn’t disappoint and had Fish heads as the closing song!
