Yes! Seeing all those nifty critters makes me happy. I love the bird of paradise mating dances. Also, prairie chickens. They're not as flashy or colorful as birds of paradise, but they can get down.

Hmm...from the pictures it looks like a snake ate something and the thing tried to claw its way out, which is also gross, but yay for nature, I guess.

I guess that's natural selection taking place, so snakes can get up ramps on to planes better.

But, yeah, I agree. The snake is really thick around that part, I also think it ate something that tried to escape. Gotta give props to that lady. I am so afraid of snakes, if one was walking up on my wall I would flat drop dead of a heart attack.

If something were trying to claw out of the snake, wouldn't there be more... gore... or whatever, around the claw? Looking at the picture, it looks like part of the snake.

I figured the, uh, meal had tried to claw out a while ago but gave up, so the snake's wound healed and whatever was inside was dead but the limb was still outside and the snake had figured how to use it as a hook or something. Depending on the climate, it might have shriveled up or desiccated rather than decomposed. And I have officially spent too much time thinking about this.

Wow. This confirms the weirdness of snake shoes...
Re: mating dances of birds. The video clip reminds me of an old Far Side cartoon with the caption "When Ornithologists are Mutually Attracted".
