Honey, there isn't enough mild curiosity in the world that will make me click that link. I get freaked out just walking thru my yard and seeing twigs that are over 4 inches. Everything looks like a snake to me. And one that has something it shouldn't?! And one that could be even more mobile!?! Hell to the no! Night!Mare!Fuel!

I guess that's natural selection taking place, so snakes can get up ramps on to planes better. Smooth. Very smooth. A snake with a foot? That was weird. I wondered the same. . . something tried to crawl out and didn't quite make it. Dang.

Hmm...from the pictures it looks like a snake ate something and the thing tried to claw its way out, which is also gross, but yay for nature, I guess. I think this would be really cool, but when I look closely at the foot, it looks like it's covered with snails just list the rest of the snake's body is. If it was its prey's foot, the scales wouldn't grow over it, so yes, that's a real snake foot I wonder if the snake's ancestors had feet in the past. If so, this could be atavism, like hind legs on whales.

I figured the prey was a scaly lizard. I thought about vestigiality, but it seems that vestiges are usually less complex than a whole limb. But I'm rather speedily leaving my element behind and will leave this analysis to the research biologists.

But I guess you only need a front pair for that. Plus, on the surface, serpentine undulation is an excellent way to push through thick vegetation quietly and efficiently, and sidewinding is even better for slippery mud or sand. Legs are not required if you want to move around. In fact, babycakes, if it makes you feel better, I'm sure that snake was way less mobile than all the other snakes around it, dragging around one probably useless foot.

La-la-la I can't hear you. Such a thing does not exist. The Lord would never create such an abomination. It's just a myth, like Sasquatch, Unicorns, and Independents.

Our mascot is Sasquatch holding onto that snake's withered foot, while they gaze adoringly into each others' eyes. It seems to put people off, for some reason. Unicorns aren't real, though.

I thought the snake foot was overkill myself but I got outvoted at the last Independents Jamboree.
