I prefer it spelled Gunnar. That way it doesn't look as much like the parents are raising a marksman. Combined with Flowers, though, it's dreadful. It sounds like "Gun or flowers", like you have a choice between violence or peace, M16s or daisies.

I'm sure this has been discussed but I had no idea of what a horrible names Robert Rodriquez gave his children. They were listed in a recent movie magazine. Poor kids. Rhiannon is okay but I feel for the rest:
Rocket Valentino (b. 14 September 1995), Racer Maximilliano (b. 16 April 1997), Rebel Antonio (b. January 1999), Rogue Joaquin and daughter Rhiannon Elizabeth (b. 10 December 2005).

Got no flowers for your gun, no hippie chiiiick...
In most other cases, I'd say naming your kid "Gunner" is trying too hard, but "Flowers" does kinda girlify everything it comes in contact with. (Hell, if they had a daughter, I'd suggest giving her a boyish or non-frou-frou name so she wouldn't be doomed to a lifetime of, "Oh, what a pretty name!" and romance novelist as the career path of least resistance*.) I'll bet Brandon Flowers knows a little something about schoolyard teasing.
Hey, at least they didn't name the kid Holden Flowers!
* Sorry for perpetuating stereotypes, Smart Bitches.
ETA:
Huh, I'd forgotten Rogue. I was trying to remember the Rodriguez boys' names and thinking, "Raygun? Robot? Railroad?"

It cracks me up to think that divaspawn1 will be dancing with someone named Racer Rodriguez come fall.

Also, Gunner may be the way the person who wrote the article spelled it. Maybe Brandon and Tana do spell it Gunnar. Personally, I do prefer it with an "A".

Kal-El Cage is a terrible name for a kid. Nicolas Cage, if you recall, named his son after Superman. Jor-El is Superman's dad, Kal-El is Superman's real name on the planet Krypton. If you love Superman so goddamn much, just name him Clark Kent Cage. Clark is cool, Clark is a fine name.
At least he didn't call the kid General Zod.
