Moxie Crimefighter!
This is so hilariously bad that I laugh when I say it.

These sound like names of archetypes from a Neil Gaiman graphic novel.

Moxie Crimefighter! This is so hilariously bad that I laugh when I say it. See, I kind of like Moxie. Girls are named for other virtues that people value, such as Faith, Grace, Prudence, etc. If you're a person who values people who have guts and stand up to fight, why not name a kid Moxie? Crimefighter is all kinds of terrible, though.

Ew, that poor child. If it was a boy, would they have named it Cheney? Or Romney?

I will never understand people who do that, if you're going to name your kid after someone famous then why not use their first name? Sarah is a perfectly nice name. The Penns are guilty of this too, naming their son Hopper instead of Dennis. Which is also a fine name.

Oh dear, poor little thing. Why would they want to saddle their kid with a name synonymous with stupidity and quitter?

Girls are named for other virtues that people value, such as Faith, Grace, Prudence, etc. If you're a person who values people who have guts and stand up to fight, why not name a kid Moxie? Because the term "moxie", meaning guts or spunk, comes from the slogan for the old soft drink Moxie ("He/She's got Moxie!"). It's like naming your kid after any brand name that entered common usage, like Band-Aid, Coke, or Aspirin. Or calling her Spunk or Guts. Why skip over historically legitimate girl names with strong meanings like Victoria (victory), Valerie (strong), Bridget (exalted), or Althea (healer) and go to an out-of-date brand of sugary pop?
