Oh my God I love this show. And yes, I irrationally think my house is dirty when I watch - forcing me to clean AND watch at the same time. And I'm actually the opposite end of the spectrum .. I'm a little OCD too clean.
I'm confusing the shows now - Hoarding: Buried Alive, and Animal Hoarding are also awesome. Is the possum on tonight?
Why did Gay and ? (can't remember his name) have their 39 and 40 year old children living there still? I was waiting to hear that their mental challenges kicked Gay into her hoarding habit, but they didn't say anything. How hideously disgusting was it to see her sit for hours taking handfuls of dirt off that living room chair? ACK

It is my True Confession of the day that I am obsessed with Hoarders the Show, Hoarding: Buried Alive and hoarders in general. I think everybody has a close relative or acquaintance who is a hoarder (I know I do) and can relate to the dysfunction. I am fascinated with what leads people to that point and how the disease spreads to the people that live with them or isolates them from everybody they know.
On other discussion boards, there's been speculation that Gaye was cleaning kitty litter out of that La-Z-Boy because they were using the kitty litter for human ca-ca since there was no working plumbing in the house! Even the mere suggestion of this has planted this idea in my head that it is true!
I also cannot wait for the possum episode and have "like"'d the Possum on Hoarders page on FB. I am a sad, sad person.

I don't think that's true (though, honestly, nothing would shock me when it comes to the participants on this show). But the litter seemed "clean" and there weren't any clumps signifying it had been used for pee collection and I'm pretty sure there wasn't any human-sized poo on the chair.
Oh, great. I just grossed myself out.

Why wouldn't she just let them take the chair out and throw it away? That whole damn family was mentally ill in my opinion, and the first clue was the middle aged children living with them.
I just sat through three episodes of Hoarders, and I think that's as much as anyone can take in one sitting without permanent mental damage, so I'm giving it a rest until tomorrow at least.

The woman who kept her feces. I can't............I can't watch this show anymore. I don't want to have to suppress my gag reflex watching TV.
The people I feel the most sorry for are the neighbors. Can you imagine having to deal with the smell, the roaches, the mice and rats? How does someone even try to sell their house when they have a house like that nearby?

I don't have a DVR, so I can't say for sure, but I counted at least three times where Matt "made a horrifying discovery" or "discovered a serious problem" or "encountered a serious horrible." It was ...just wow.

According to what Matt wrote on the A&E message boards today, there are several other homes featured on this season that are worse than the poop keeper's house last night. How is THAT even possible?!
My TV is going to need a Silkwood Shower.

They trapped him in a cat carrier and carted him away -- possibly to a better fate faced by the several dead ones found in the garage.

I got through my first episode yesterday -- it was the Gordon, Gay, and Sir Patrick episode. I immediately cleaned my house and just have the bathroom to do today. I am not sure that I can stick with the show because it made me feel a bit ill, but I also feel like I cannot look away.
